How do I get rid of the hiccups? |
|
I know a couple tricks but they all involve someone else holding a cup while I plug my ears and so forth. Right now I am all alone. Any suggestions.

1. Control your breathing and keep your diaphragm tense |
|
It's not guaranteed, but it's the only method that has ever worked for me.

I got a BAD case two Saturdays ago when I was drinking. After an hour, I started to believe they would NEVER stop.

4. I hold my breath and drink soda at the same time. |
|
But it's gotta be soda, something about the carbonation. Seems to do it for me.

Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 12:31 PM by RebelOne
but it works for me every time. Also, take a small sip of hot sauce. It shocks the hiccups out of your system.

16. Drink water backwards... |
|
You drink out of the opposite side of the glass that you normally drink. You have to lean way over - like you are about to do a summersault. Takes a little finesse to keep water from spilling out onto your face, but it works every time!

17. let's see if I can explain this |
|
Take a cup of water. Hold your head over it and with your lips, grab the rim of the cup that is away from your body. Bend over, tip the cup's bottom toward your body, take a drink (the water will hit the roof of your mouth) and swallow while bent over.
Hard to explain. Not exactly easy to do. But it works.

or have someone scare you. When I was in 8th grade a boy kept hicking and the teacher said in an even low threatening voice, "You're in serious trouble Jim, go see the principal." The kid says in shock, "What!!?" Then she said, just kidding, but you've stopped your hic-upping."
And he had.
