Do you guys ever type and not post?

I find myself doing this a lot. I see a comment and feel like adding my two cents..

then after 5 minutes of typing out a respone I'm about to click "post message" when I suddenly realize that what I just typed is either pointless, stupid, or a spectacular failure on all accounts.

Anyone else get this?

22. Sometimes the words just flow and sometimes they don't

If I find I've written two or three paragraphs and still haven't actually said anything, I chuck it.

If I find myself thinking, "I know I had a thought that seemed interesting or important or funny, but somehow I'm not managing to express it in a way where anyone else would think so, " I chuck it.

If I realize I've gotten suckered into one of those silly lounge threads on a topic like, "What is your favorite candy?" where everyone has an opinion and none of the opinions add up to anything, I chuck it.

(Well, actually I'm being too kind to myself. I don't always have the sense to chuck these, especially if it's near my bedtime. And I do have a weakness for going off into anecdotes about what the world was like c. 1959 and why it still matters. But I do my best to ride herd on myself.)

and started threads and replied to enough people, I'd get noticed and get a lot of responses. I guess I actually have to post things that are worth reading. :shrug:

I have been on du for about two years and only have 140 posts. Check my delete box...I think I would be the top poster...the worst is posting and then waking up the next morning and going "OMG what have I done?" Example: I said that I had the best cat in the world and now I have probably offended thousands of people who probably have better cats than I do...OMG now they are all going to hate me!

I don't post quite a bit of inflammatory stuff, personal attacks, stuff that would bring the Secret Service to my door, the names, adresses, and phone numbers of particularly moronic Republicans, pictures of Dick Cheney having sex with chickens... those all get thrown away without posting.

So, I'm thinking we should all bring garlic presses, egg beaters, and other innocuous kitchen gadgets to the airport next time we go flying, as a form of protest... If any one of you is brave, you can bring the big cast iron frying pan.

I also think we should launch the last space shuttle into deep space carrying a greyhound bus full of wealthy dead people who look like they are having fun. George W. Bush, may he live a hundred years more, he could be dressed up as the bus driver. Elvis could be in the bathroom, sitting on the throne.
