Discovering San Diego - My First Day
It's beautiful here! The greenery - the trees and plants are beautiful here! :)

The lizards and chameleons out on the patio (smoking area at dad's house) - well, they are small and harmless, I'll get used to it ....

I didn't pack appropriately for the every day 40 degree temperature swing from morning to evening. I had to change clothes twice today. oops!

Tomorrow I'm driving to LA for the weekend and the DU get-together tomorrow night in Hollywood. I've been warned LA traffic will be a culture shock for this gal from Iowa. Just saw a traffic update in the news - holy stromboli!!!

BTW, had an interesting plane ride. Sat next to a very drunk gentleman who felt it important I knew he was an attorney. :eyes: Well, I don't know if it was because I was reading the book "Clinton Wars" by Sidney Blumenthal that he brought this up, but he loudly proclaimed GEORGE W BUSH AND JOHN ASHCROFT CAN KISS MY ASS!! Well, I just responded that he would get no argument from me. He also said GEORGE W BUSH IS A GODDAMN NAAAZI!!

He got a little fresh and I diplomatically offered to take the seat by the window so he could have the one between us to spread out a bit. He did take the hint and behaved himself for the rest of the trip. But the MAIN reason I did not persue any further conversation with him is because he was talking to my breasts instead of making eye contact. :eyes: Sheesh!

for talking to your breasts.
Its just a bad habit I guess.

BTW I attended San Diego State and lived in San Diego for three years in the 80s.

4. I sat next to a lunatic on my plane ride down here too!
I'm at my friends' house now - just got in last night. I sat out in the sun this afternoon and enjoyed their hot tub this evening (yes, I can get used to this...). Needless to say, I am MOST relaxed. Looking forward to tomorrow night!

The flight was slicker than snot.

Although, I got to the airport in Omaha early 2 1/2 hours just as instructed. There was no line. I checked my bags, went through security and arrived at my gate within 10 minutes. Had over 2 hours to cool my heels.

At Denver, there are NO EXITS in the whole fricken airport, I swear! I was trying to go out for a smoke between flights. All I could find was a subway?? I was told to take the train to go smoke. NO WAY! I was afraid I'd never make my connection, so I waited till I got to San Diego to have my smoke.

8 hours without a smoke. That must be a record for me while awake.

Oh yeah, at least the drunk leering lawyer thought bush and ashcroft are assholes. He was no bother after I moved over a seat. ;)

:-)

But is it my SAS shoes, my SAS statistics computer program, my SAS airline tickets, or my SAS anti-insurgency team? I've got more SAS than I can wave a Heckler and Koch MP3 at. Oops...Mp5, I mean.

And, yes, I haven't been sleeping much, so don't worry if this makes even less sense than everything else I come up with. :D

I would have been, shall we say, less diplomatic with him if I had to be. I won't put up with groping. Cripes. :eyes:

25. From the materials he was reading
and the conversation he was having with his buddy in the next aisle, I believe they were lawyers. He did quiet down though, even though they consumed several Jack Daniels after that.

The only annoyance the rest of the way was the smell of stale whiskey - he must have been at it all day. Whew!

See ya tomorrow! :hi:

and has a few really far out lines.. which shuts people up.

Then I have another friend who is a physicist - who heard the other woman's approach to distancing plane conversation... and thought it was a riot!

I haven't been home since 1986. It was really a nice little place when I was growing up. I left when I joined the Navy in 1982 and went back to visit a few times after that.

45. Day Two - I think I just woke up the whole fricken neighborhood!
:eyes:

Finding my way in the dark to the kitchen on my quest for coffee, I stepped on a cat. It wasn't pretty. :eyes:

I fumble around for a light above the sink - ahhh ... flick! oops! It was the garbage disposal. A very noisy one!! :eyes:

Finally some light! Grab coffee can outta the fridge - the neatly stacked cans of Diet Pepsi all came tumbling down when I closed the door. :eyes:

This user friendly microwave has copped an attitude. x(

But, it's a beautiful day! Jet lag knocked me on my BUTT last night - I haven't felt this rested for months!
