do you work with insane people?
I paint vacant apartments and sometimes we do hallways etc. last week i was sent to a particular property to do one unit and work on some common hallways. we were having some problems with materials and the manager suggested i paint a unit she had that was recently vacant. i told her i was actually sent to do hallways and would prefer to do what i was sent to do as my boss gets uppity if we change what's on our schedule. then i asked her if it was a "move in" that needed to be done soon, to which she replied "nah, it's just a time waster.." so i was like, well then i'll just work on these hallways..

so the boss calls me on the radio after the weekend and says this manager called him all upset that she had to cancel a cleaning and a carpet installation because i hadn't painted the unit.. then she complained i had painted some hallway doors that were in another building after the maintenance supervisor told me it was OK...

wtf is wrong with these people?? i'm about to give up talking to anybody anymore since it obviously doesn't seem to work..

anyone else have these kinds of other-worldly experiences lately?

:wtf:

1. I thank god
that I am only surrounded by PHDs in neuroscience and cognitive science... the intelligence and reason and bush hating of these people makes me all warm and fuzzy inside...

(sigh) god bless universities.

3. Universities? Sane?
:D

I suppose the experience of having a coworker trying to kill me has jaded me just a tad. :o

A resounding "yes" on working alongside insane people, including the dangerously, violently deranged.

There's a guy I work with who actually spends most of the day surfing the web or ordering parts for his gun collection. He is fond of reading the Onion and knows I am too (though I am usually too busy doing actual work to read it during the day). Today he wanted to know if the story about Energy Secy. Spencer Abraham doing porno in the '80s was true because he knows some of the stories in the Onion are gags. I explained to his bewildement that all of the stories in the Onion were made up for humorous purposes. Did I say he has a large gun collection?

10. Cut him a break
The Onion story from a couple weeks ago "Muscleman Takes Over World's Fifth-Largest Economy" was absolutely true.

6. I am thinking of making a comedy about it
I'd probably face a libel case. I wouldn't really have to embellish the story that much to make it hillarious though. I don't know if I work with anyone who is sane. It really would be funny if I didn't have to work there.

I work with a control freak. Same thing. He is one of the bosses. In the event that he needs to come in and work on the computers (rarely during the day--usually in the mornings when it's still dark, or at night), there can be no glare. We have to close the blinds on all our windows so barely any sun gets through. When another co-worker opened them a bit, he was jumped on and we were all told not to touch the blinds. Our immediate supervisor went to the boss who is the president of the company to ask if we could please have our blinds open, being that we like light and all. The next day, the blinds were completely shut and the toggles to adjust them had been removed (by the control freak). Oh...My...God.

11. a slightly diff take - same story
My boss (who doesn't share my office) told me I HAD to open the blinds although it meant the office was about 35 degrees c by the arvo and the sun shines directly on my monitor because of some riduculous new age theory she had.
She also tells me the reason my lower back is sore is because I'm "holding something in emotionally" I tried pointing out my penchant for three inch heels may have had more to do with it and then she started on about chakras! this woman is a highly paid director of PR - she should be in a teepee somewhere charging yuppies to "read their auras"
