A question for Corona drinkers
I just opened a bottle of Corona and the taste reminds me of skunk. I see the ads on tv where they have a slice of lime next to the bottle. Is that what it takes to be able to drink this stuff? I don't have any lime, but would lemon juice work?

1. A wedge of lemon would work
but why not just drink piss? Same difference (hate that stuff..love Modelo Negro and Tecate though)

4. Yeah
this stuff is pretty mean. The lemon juice helped however. I drink cheap beer usually-Keystone Light is my favorite, it's light years ahead of this stuff. I will check out Tecate, at least they sponsor Cart races.

2. it doesn't taste like skunk
I've drank Coronas ever since I was 14 (native Texan here)and it always had a thick slice of lime in the bottle neck. The acidity in the lemon helps enhance the flavor of the Corona. I love spending summers with Coronas in my hand at the beach :-)

6. It probably got hot
at some point in it's shipping/handling, it got hot. I like Rolling Rock from Latrobe, PA. but it is often "Skunky" and it has to do with poor handling techniques. A quick "Ask Jeeves" search revealed the following;

"Odors are usually the products of abused or contaminated beer. One common odor comes from "Light struck" beer which has a "skunky" odor. Oxidized beers have a cardboard aroma and flavor."

Buy your beer from a store that sells A LOT OF BEER. That way you can trust they get fresher product.

8. So true
Corona goes for about $7.50 a six pack here but you can get a twelve pack of Keystone Light for about $7.25. That Corona probably ages for a while. In other words cheap beer sells quick these days, other beers don't.

7. I got pretty hammered on them the other day
and even wrote a poem about them:

Within a bottle are liquid truths and dreams.

A concoction that flows about to burst the seams

Like medicine to remedy the ordinary and everyday

Entrenched routines from which sometimes it's good to stray

Peace of mind, heart of comfort, and time to feel truly relaxed

Such routines set in stone, such resources often taxed.

Flowing amber trapped in glass, and oncoming tide

A rare medium indeed were thoughts freely glide

Such thoughts break apart and eventually reform

In an absence of liquid amber, doing more in a rare moments that the
rituals to which we conform.
===========

At that last sentence, I almost passed out. I need to re-write it.

10. Corona is only for the summer
get a slice of lime and push it down into the bottle, and then put your thumb in the mouth and hold the bottle upside down until the lime floats to the bottom, after that enjoy. Also if you are going to make a veggie burger soaking it in corona and lime juice before is da bomb.

12. Corona is the best big brewery light beer around.
Looks like you just got a bad bottle. It's one of the lightest, almost tasteless beers I've had. (tasteless coming from a guy who loves his stout. It's just not at all bitter or skunky). Corona without the lime is like macaroni without the cheese. It's a perfect example of one flavor complimenting another.

That said, I hardly ever drink corona. I'm in oregon, and there's just too many microbrews around to pass up.

13. I met a guy
in a bar in Novato, CA in 1988. Former W2 POW, bomber pilot.

TOld me they use formaldyhyde to preserve Corona, and that it was the only beer in the world that was irradiated. Said it would make your...jewels...smaller.
