6. Mine is.
I just AVG virus protection and Spybot. I haven't had a virus in over two years, but I am not starting a Linux vs XP smackdown, just saying. Most people who get viruses are just careless and the only reason Windows based machines are more vulnerable is because so many people have them. Consequently asswipes who create these viruses target these machines for maximum effect.

9. Geez louise, turn your computers off at night people!
You don't leave your car running when you're not driving do you?

Oh, and think twice about using CPU intensive screensavers for the same reason. Just blank the screen.

I stopped running my own mail/web server 8 years ago because the box was just wasting energy 95% of the time. Anyone who has an 'uptime' of more than 1 day should have to pay a wasted energy surcharge.

11. My windows XP tthrew a major hissy fit yesterday
the volume would not work, the WMP was unresponsive, and it wouldn't shut down, so I had to power down to reboot. I'd tell you the LAST time it happened, but this last fit wiped all my event logs. So I guess I can lay claim to 25 and a half hours! and counting!!1!!11!!
w00t:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: It's teh bomb!!11!! and I don't mean it in a good way!

12. Mine stays open for about 3-4 weeks at a time
I usually only reboot because the power went out or I've installed something that requires me to reboot my computer. And it's running so much better since I got rid of Norton

17. Ditto on the Trend micro product----
I use it and the MS beta app for stopping spyware - rock solid performer, and I can run all my engineering and CAD apps that don't run (or will not run well under emulation scenarios) on MAC and Linux - not trashin' Linux or Mac - but they just aren't the ultimate answer for a lot of us that use our computers for more than photoshoppin and e-mail, internet browsin....

18. If you do not restart every few weeks
you are not maintaining your computer well (e.g. security updates).
