I enjoy Thievery Corporation. Who else should I look into?
Just dioscovered their music. Good stuff. In a similar vein, I also like Yo La Tengo, Cinematic Orchestra, Sigur Ros, The Dining Rooms and Jazzanova. Any other reccommendations?

1. Listen to SomaFM.com
Their Groove Salad stream would probably give you lots more ideas. (I think it's Groove Salad stream where Thievery Corp is played. Maybe check the Drone Zone stream too).

7. I could play Groove Salad fine
with Real Audio but the Drone Zone said I needed a plug-in. I'm not a super tech head and don't know what I need to do. But thanks for the tip. Do they announce the name of the groups?

8. The song titles should show up in the 'status area'
Or whatever your streaming client has.

For example, in iTunes, they show up in the top area that shows the station name.

Also, on the http://www.somafm.com webpage, they show both the current track on each stream, and the last few tracks they've placed (under the link for the stream).

2. You might check out
Lemon Jelly, Pepe Deluxe (particularly their first), Thunderball, Blue States (if you can find it), or St. Etienne. You might also check out the Paris Lounge Series (Paris Lounge 1 & 2, London Lounge, New York Lounge)

5. Tosca, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Rockers Hi-Fi...
or anything on the Ninjatune label...all of these are really good downtempo bands.

You may also want to check out Stereolab, if you haven't already.

13. Some much music, so little money!
I like Pink Martini a lot. They're not quite in the same category as these groups though. But, then again, what category are they in? I wish they'd get it together and put out a second album.

14. I included them because...
I don't know anyone who loves this genre who doesn't like them, too. By the way, we've got front row tickets for the Pink Martini album release concert on Valentine's Day.

15. Tres cool!
I heard a piece on NPR on them dealing with all the angst about putting together the second album. I'm glad the leader finally got it together at last. You must live in Portland.
