French Bashing in the (American) movies:
You know I'm getting rather tired of the Hollywood film industry pandering to the Right Wing tendency to bash France.

I'm no longer going to support films that do this even if I am otherwise interested in them.

Examples:

"Master and Commander": Story changed so that enemy ship was French, rather than American, presumably to pander to U.S. audiences who I guess wouldn't have been able to handle the U.S. being "bad guys" in the movie.

"Matrix" films with the annoying French accented villain.

"The Incredibles" with Bomb Voyage, the French villain early in the film. I liked this movie and actually purchased the DVD, but between this and the emphasis on the tort legal system as causing the superhero exile at the beginning of the movie, I was a bit worried that the whole movie was going to be some kind of Rush Limbaugh lovefest...

Other examples too numerous to count...

1. I've noticed it too.
Not french bashing but along the same lines. In Terminator III when they are in the cemetery, Ahnold starts ripping into a group of cops with his machine gun. Then the dust settles and a prompt comes up from the Terminators point of view. Something like this in Terminator vision: "L.A. Police: No Casualties" what the fuck??? I guess they couldn't have the future governor of California tearing into and massacring his future underlings. Total bullshit.

2. " French accented villain ..."
That could just mean the person was taught English by French person, so they have a funny accent. ;)

3. except when it's Homer Simpson..
Who generally follows up such disparaging remarks by making a total ass of himself, chanting "U-S-A! U-S-A!"

Very sly on the part of the writers!
