What in fresh hell is this? My monitor screen has turned puke pink! |
|
Does anyone know what would cause this? It's very bright, very ugly and it's giving me a nasty headache. Is there anything I can do about this colour of puke pink other than say a lot of rude naughty words? All I did is turn the computer on, the screen was normal at first, then it suddenly and viciously went pink!
Any advice/idea would be appreciated!

2. Try unplugging and then replugging the video connector |
|
on the rear of the computer. It may just be loose. Your video cable may also be flaky. If you have a spare monitor try plugging that in and see if the colors on that are OK. If so, then it's either your video cable or your monitor. If not, it's your video card.

8. Or anything with a magnetic field for that matter |
|
Magnets near the monitor will distort the colors. At least with the old CRT monitors. Haven't tried it with an LCD yet.

It may be the video card.
It may not be. First check the cable, make sure it's in well. Cables tend not to die, so if it's securely attached, assume it's not the cable. (That was good advice.)
I'd try finding the degauss button if it's a CRT monitor (big, bulky, energy-gobbling ... like mine. Once my monitor acted really goofy because it was exposed to a magnetic field as I reorganized my desk. Usually CRTs will have some sort of buttons along the bottom (sometimes behind a panel). Enjoy.
If that doesn't work, hook it up to another computer before concluding conclusively that it's the video card.
It may be an electron gun died. Your screen's color palette consists of three colors, closely interlaced. If it's a CRT ), it has one gun for each color. They don't all die at once. My wife's screen once went all yellow.
Good luck.

11. Thanks! It's a used Dell. |
|
My last screen went yellow last year, because of the electron gun dying. I was told they couldn't be fixed. So I bought this monitor, which is probably suffering the same vicious fate, I was hoping I could keep this screen for awhile. Electrons you can dress them up, but you can't take them out!

No, no. I don't get that virus.
But others do and I can't figure out why.

12. Wiggle the monitor cable |
|
Sometimes it does that if the cable's bad. Hope it's not hardwired....

:scared: :scared: I will suffer no republicans on my monitor screen! They ruin everything they put their evil claws on and they always leave a foul odor behind them.
