There were a lot of episodes where Eddy showed true compassion and his soft side. I think his boosting was just a front for his true kindness....

His dad would probably be an old school Republican, but not really idealogical. Lumpy is kind of dumb, so he would just be reall pro-team without putting any thought to it, and would blindly follow whatever the current R leadership was touting.
