Am I the most travelingest DU'er?
Tonight i am in Mequite, NV. Last night, Salt Lake City. Wednesday I'll be in Las Vegas. 10 Days ago, Denver. 10 Days from now, L.A.

I know there are several truckers that post here but i am curious how many others travel regularly or often for their jobs.

1. I travel all the time
not a trucker but a aerospace engineer/sales weenie and I fly 2 or 3 times a week most of the time, both coasts, Europe, all places in between. I really like it 99% of the time, never board

5. Interesting! I am an Aviation enthusiast and have been all my life.....

If i had not lacked the foresight that i did when i was younger, i would have pursued a career in aviation to a larger degree. I was a Parts Manager for a Cessna/Bell Helicopter FBO when i was in my early 20's and loved it. I am fascinated by airplanes of all types so your position is one that i envy.

Are you at liberty to say who you work for? I had submitted a resume' to Boeing on their "BESS" program online but each time i responded to a job notice i didn't receive a reply, so i gave up. I specified "Transportation" as a skill level so i was pretty limited to truck driver positions but i would love to be involved with an Aerospace firm of some sort. Selling and/or promoting at the Paris Air show or Farnborough is a dream of mine.

3. Currently I am homeless......
I live in hotels and since i am out on the road for up to 8 weeks at a time, it is pointelss to have a place that i sleep in for 5 days every 2 months. When i "go home" i usually head to SW Florida to my brothers place in Ft. Myers or vsit my mom in the Port Charlotte area.

As far as lonely is concerned, i have been an over the road trucker since 1987 and i have gotten used to it, i suppose. I am rarely alone but yes, i do get terribly lonely. The last relationship i had ended almost a year ago i do miss having someone to care for and about, as well as a love life. But i am not sad. I love what i do so i look at it as a sacrifice i am willing to make for my own happiness.

Sooner or later i'll get off the road but it has to be for the right job and the right reasons. And then perhaps, i'll have the chance to meet someone and have a relationship that could last.

In the meantime, whenever you see me post you can know that i am in a different town almost every other day.

4. My brother in law just got his trucker's license--we missed him
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 12:54 AM by linazelle
while he went from city to city training. He's back home doing local work now.

I travel but not as much as you. Every two or three months--it adds up: been to LA, Manhattan, Orlando, NM, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Virginia, DC, Michigan, Ohio, St. Louis, Kentucky, Minneapolis, Denver, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Baltimore...several times.

It's good to see the USA on company time but I'm always glad to come home.
