What does this mean? MS Word help needed.
As part of a job description -

Must be comfortable with merging/mailing quantitative data.

OK - I've never had to do this before. I learned how to merge/mail yesterday in Word but I don't understand what the quantitative data means.

Is it possible for me to pull data from an excel spreadsheet or access database into a word document (as fields like you would in a mail/merge) and then do a mail/merge with the data pulled in matching up with the specific addressee?

I don't even know what to call this, I've been loking for online help and Word help but I'm getting nowhere.

1. Kinda what it sounds like to me.
Each row is a record, and you can put whatever field it may be into a MM document.

2. So say that I'm sending a document with department budgets
to 50 department heads. Each department has a different $ amount.

Can I use a field called BudgetTotal in the spreadsheet, insert that field into a word document and have that BudgetTotal associated with the specific department head it applies to? The department head's name would also be a Field in the document.

Am I making sense?

3. You got it.That's exactly what they want you to do.
I stopped using M$ office in '01, so I'm not sure what crap they added in '03, but you are talking about merging a database (could be excel, or access), into a document or form. Rows are records, columns are fields. Let us know any details, & I'm sure our collective geekyness can help you out. :freak:

4. Can you look at my response to kick-ass-bob? That is the
kind of thing I'm wondering if they want me to be able to do. I don't know if it is doable.

I am using Word 2002 so I don't really need to look at the functionality of '03.

6. Kicking, just in case someone in the pm crowd can help.
I'm looking for a description of the process or a website that might help.
