Poll question: Have you had any "Hey yall, watch this!" moments? |
|
Inquiring minds want to know!
As a Texan, a Harley rider, a cowboy, and a sportsman I've had a number of times like that personally. :)

2. I found a snake in the yard |
|
and brought it in to show my girlie roommates. They were all freaked out and I was holding it like I was a badass...
The thing lunged out and bit me right on the lip.
I didn't live that down for a while.

7. One comes to mind. We were working cows, roping and giving shots... |
|
One old cow ran up under some brush and wouldn't come out. I finally charged my horse in, leaned over, and slapped her in the face with my hat. She jumped and knocked my horse out from under me. I fended her off with that hat until my Brother got a rope on her.

|
and the like to his cattle and he went to give one a shot, and my cousin did domething stupid, well he turned his head to look. and he went through the skin and gave himself a black leg shot. stuck it right in his hand. He had a fever most of the day and his hand swelled but the vet said he would not have to worry about black leg.

17. ROFL! I like that one! There's more than one cowboy done it... |
|
I'll bet. My older Brother got stampeded over in a corral the last time he worked cows. He said he was trying to shove Danny (one of his best friends) down to slow the cows, but Danny was too fast! :)

19. Well I used to have to get the big Brahma he had to chase me |
|
and I had to run as fast as I could through the pinch shoot and then someone had to be on top to catch him as he ran through. If they missed I had to be over the fence before he caught me.

20. ROFL! My ex did that once loading a Brahma bull in a trailer... |
|
She ducked out the little door in the front just as the bull sailed out the top of the trailer and onto the cab of the rancher's new truck!

My dad drops me and my bros off with some relatives at the lake. The guy who was driving the boat was a total stereotypical redneck (believe me, I still have no idea how this guy is related to us). So we're out in the middle of the lake and he's got this little rat dog with him the whole time. So about 2 1/2 hours we're out on the water, the rat dog takes a shit on the boat, he scoops it up with an empty cracker box and throws it out on the water.
I've got plenty more where that came from!

in Lake Livingston with thirty or forty other bikers and their women. I told one of them known as Dirty Dena she was leaving a ring around the Lake!

21. I climbed off my Harley 1974 Police Special and onto... |
|
my Son's Honda bike on a dirt road. I made it to the first dip where the centrifigal force of the front tire rising caused me to twist the throttle a bit. That crazy thing flew out from under me and I landed with one ankle twisted underneath me. I rode my Harley the twenty miles home, and laid down in the floor, clenched my teeth, and began to wiggle my boot off with my other toe. The ex grabbed the boot and told me I had to get it off before my ankle swelled anymore. Like an idiot she was pulling from the toe of the boot! I managed to shake her off without hurting her and hobbled to the bathroom where I lost my lunch from nausea caused by the pain. I was then able to work my boot off my black and blue ankle. No more dirt bikes for me!

24. At Sparrevohn Air Force Station Alaska, during the winter of... |
|
1968 and 1969 I started a craze of body-sledding down the mountain. The slope is very steep so the run is fast. The road at the bottom was dozed free of snow which made it something of a ski jump at the bottom. We were bored shitless most of the winter, so it was good entertainment. I've found out since that others did it some years, too.

25. I'm an honorary Texan |
|
Does that count?
Since my very best one of those moments happened in this state I'm gonna assume it does.
We were at the lake and they had one of those big oaks with a rope in it to swing out over the water. Everyone was swinging and landing just fine so I thought I'd give it a try. I climbed the tree and swung out kicking off like everyone else, but instead of sailing around the tree and over the water like everyone else, the rope broke while I was over the shore and I landed in about 6" of water.
I had sand in places no person should ever have sand. x(
