66. Agreed
I don't recall seeing SWAT on both sidelines at Fenway like we did last year in Game 6 of the ALCS.

I've long regarded the Yankees and their mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging fans as perfect symbols of the GOP and their chickenhawk, crabgrass roots followers. My guys, the Red Sox and their fans, are the perfect symbols of the Democratic/liberal constituency of this nation. To elucidate:

The Yankees: Coldly arrogant, thinking that victory is a birthright.
The Red Sox: Scrappy, knowing that they have to earn every out they get.

Yankees: It's not the name on the back that counts, it's the name on the front (which is synonmous with "Choke").
Red Sox: Wear their names on the back of their away jerseys like the other fucking 28 teams in MLB.

The Yankees: Facial Hair? Not on Mr. Steinbrenner's team.
Red Sox: Caveman Johnny gets shave and a haircut for charity.

The Yankees: Trots out Ronan Tynan fifty or sixty times per postseason.
Red Sox: Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffet, Steven Tyler.

The Yankees: Plays Frank Sinatra after a win, which ain't all that often, these days.
Red Sox: "Dirty Water" by The Animals.

Lastly, these thoughts:

Punk-ass, cheating bitch: $25,000,000 per year.
Annual payroll: $200,000,000 per year.
George Steinbrenner spending three quartewrs of a billion dollars on payroll since 2000 and no WS rings to show for it?

Fucking priceless.

but I'm not exactly enamored with the Red Sox.

Besides the dark, fatalisic obsession of Red Sox fans, this is what first comes to mind when I think of the Red Sox: last team in the Major Leagues to integrate.

LOTS of NYY fans in So. Cali. Their fans are fine. It's obnoxious when so many people cheer for the visitors, but it's part of the game.

and Homicide: Life on the Streets had an episode where a Yankees fan was murdered at Camden Yards (by his friend, as it turned out, over who should go get more beer) and on the way the Richard Belzer character said, "Is it even a crime to kill a Yankees fan at Camden Yards?"

heheh

I still get a grin from that one.

16. As I would say in the bleachers, Go F yourself!
Don't know if this a copycat thread or not, but if it isn't, what the fuck is up with that comment? Granted, I am a born and raised bronx boy, but I think you are way off base.

I've been to almost every ballpark, (Philly and Pittsburgh will come later this season and Milwaukee will wait for my business trip to Madison next spring) and I have seen bad fans and great fans everywhere. Yankees fans love their team as much as any other club's fans, but I don't think they are assholes.

I have yet to see an older guy at the stadium (one of us old fellows over 30) catch a ball and not give it to a cute little kid. I've handed out a dozen or so foul and bp balls in the past 5 years. During the last boston series a little girl wearing a boston jersey spilled a soda and I saw a 300 lb yankee fan go buy her a soda to stop her from crying.

With all that, anyone who wears the visiting team;s jersey to a sporting event is up for some razzing. That happens in Texas High School football, Florida college baseball and every NCAA, NFL, NBA and MLB event. If razzing makes yankees fans assholes, all fans must be assholes. If one small group of fans did something over the top, don;t blame the whole team for one asshole. Assholes are everywhere not just in the bronx. In fact, I think the Bronx is a wonderful place. Most of my best friends were born and raised there. Many still live there. As my mom would say, the bronx is good people.

What happened to make you think all yankees fans at the stadiums are assholes?

21. So what, one places a yankee logo as their avitar and they rep all NY fans
I don't think that justifies someone referring to all the seatwarmers at yankee stadium with some fairly disgusting terms.
If you wanted to post that the original poster in the thread you linked was an asshole, go for it. I would agree, but I think that violates a DU rule about calling out a another DUer. However, I think whitehousemoron was wrong in attacking boston fans, and I think the original poster in this thread was wrong. If you want to go to a game with me at the stadium and wear a sox jersey, I'll rip you apart with teh rest fo the fans, but I have been to a dozen games at fenway in a yankees jersey and love the place and the fans. I got razzed, and one drunk guy tried to fight me once, but my rather large boston fan friend talked him out of it. I hope boston loses every game they play and never win anotehr title. I hope the fans suffer antoher 500 years of playoffless seasons and fruitless dreams. I hope the yankees cruch the sox in every series they play and I will laugh at every boston fan I see when the yankees beat boston. I would hope a boston fan would do the same. None of that makes me an asshole, and whitehousemoron does not speak for all yankees fans.

Schilling is just so viscerally nasty and self-centered that I think he sets a whole new bar. I'm sure I wouldn't want to hang out with A-Rod, either, for that matter, but at least he keeps his mouth shut most of the time. (Maybe cause even the other Yankees don't seem to like him very much!)
