Yes folks- Abra and panties made entirely of diamonds. Would that make it a bit uncomfortable to sit down.

17. Not that simple

Without the demand for such goofy crap, there would be fewer jobs. Mining, cutting, selling, buying, reselling, designing, marketing, protecting... on and on. Without those jobs, there would be more for that 11 mil to feed.

The biggest problem is that the item may not be labor intensive, or labor efficient. Maybe that 11 million would create more jobs and wealth for more people if it were applied directly to food, agriculture or housing. But, then you might not get some Ben Afflek kind of person to spend the 11 million on creating jobs. He might just sit on it instead of buying his way out of a mess. Then the money goes nowhere, helps no one. VS is freeing the money from its cage so it can rain bounty upon the Earth. (uh, sorry for the lousy poetic image-- sounds more like bird droppings.)

As long as wealth circulates, it helps. When it stagnates or turns into stock market games, it is less useful. In a capitalist world-- and like it or not it is-- selling even useless crap means jobs.
