Anyone looking forward to HBO's Rome?
I'm probably going to cancel my HBO, since Carnivale and 6FU have both been terminated.

I can't imagine giving a shit about some modern soap opera about archaic Rome. Really can't imagine wanting to watch it.

Anyone here looking forward to it? There are only, what, three episodes of 6FU left, and, after that, I'm afraid that HBO will be a goner on my tellie.

1. I was looking forward to it but.
I cancelled HBO and got Starz instead, because Starz shows movies, and HBO (Home Box Office) doesn't.

2. I already cancelled Starz.
The movies were soooo repetitive. I got Netflix instead.

But this Rome thing looks kinda stupid to me.

5. I don't know
Deadwood was pretty damn good in the first season. (the second season was a bit too.. poetic, I couldn't keep up with what people were talking about)

7. I never got hooked into Deadwood or to Sopranos.
But I loved, LOVED, Carnivale and 6FU from the first moment.

I was hanging on every episode.. but after all that in season one, and no payoff.. (they explained zero) I had to dump it. heh..

what else do you like? I'm sure I'll hate it.

BTW.. I like Battlestar Galaticia.. I assume you didn't get into it. :)

11. Season two of Carnivale clarified a lot of the mystery from the first...
season.

I love Clea Duvall, so I adored the show. I wish it wouldn't have been cancelled. :(

Naw, I'm not much into Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and other space-age series. I do like Star Wars, though. :D

4. I might tune in
I'm a sucker for ancient Rome costume dramas.

Remains to be seen if I can watch it or I'd be better off renting I, Claudius again.

6. I'll watch it
We have an armoury for a Roman Legion right up the street, and they're probably involved.

so I'll be keeping HBO for a while (I watch them too). We watched Carnivale, too. I also want to check out that show with Lisa Kudrow.

12. I like Comeback, Lisa Kudrow's show.
But not enough to keep HBO.

Rome is a drama set in ancient Rome. It will go throw the betrayal of Ceasar and all that stuff.

I just don't dig historical dramas. I did like Carnivale, because it was set in the dustbowl, but besides that it was completely fictional.

Howya doing? Is it raining up there? It's thundering like crazy here...I'm thinking that we're going to get a downpour soon.

13. The weather up here is so random. I am
sure it is raining around here somewhere. It is supposed to. It will be raining at my house, but nowhere else. How have ya been?

16. Doing fine!
Spent a weekend in New Orleans last week and then three nights at the Pearl River Resort. We went to Geyser Falls and rented a cabana (the only way to go). I had the sweetest cabana boy. He was gay and soooo talkative...I didn't order anything, but just tipped him to come to the cabana and hang out with me. :D

Have y'all ever been over to the Choctaw Entertainment Complex??? It's such a blast there. We love to go. I wish I could talk southern DUers into a meet-up there, so that we could support that great American Indian group of people.

14. Did you ever watch Dead Like Me on Showtime? SFU and
Carnivale were the only HBO series that I watched from Ep 1. I will probably give Rome a try but I'm thinking of switching my Starz to Showtime for Weeds (which I think starts in August).

I watch the Comeback too.

Anyway a guy I met who was also a SFU/Carnivale junkie said Dead Like Me was great. It's been cancelled but the 2nd season is On Demand right now.

The movies on Showtime suck though.

15. No, I didn't ever see it.
I loved Carnivale. I'm probably just going to drop HBO altogether, since my work won't allow me any tv time after the end of August. :(

18. I'm looking forward to Rome
it looks interesting and I've given everything on HBO a chance except that new show with the girl from Friends. I heard it might be worse than Arliss though.

I watched the first couple episodes of Dead Like Me and it just didn't click for me. I am looking forward to seeing Weeds though, mostly because I find Mary Louise Parker rather attractive and a good actress.

I don't watch movies on any of the premium channels. Thats what Netflix and my collection are for.

20. I switched to Sho from Starz for Dead Like Me and then
I found out it was cancelled and it wasn't even on On Demand. When I switched to Showtime last time I ended up watching the entire 1st season of The L Word in 3 days. So I'll probably do the same for Dead Like Me (if I like it) when I switch for Weeds.

I get all the movies I need between HBO, STARZ, Encore and Sundance - don't really rent that much and do not buy movies (except for my kids).
