Oy...I think I have a crush on my lab partner.... |
|
My Zoology lab partner is sooo cute, and I think I've developed a raging crush on her. She's adorable, smart, and single! Problem is, I get so stupidly shy in these situations, I usually do nothing about it. Argggh...what to do?

no, I have a feeling cheezy science jokes are'nt her cup o' tea. She seems more like the "hey, wanna get it on?" type, as far as i can tell, and that approach is definitely not my forte'.

23. I had a similar experience |

It took the full first term for me to ask this girl in my English class for a date. Turned out she was a real party girl, I was a quiet nerd, the date was a total catastrophe. Be careful.

suggest that you and her study together. That'll give you time with each other and go from there.

Study session might be easier to suggest than a social get-together, as far as the shyness goes.

6. It's not like you don't have anything in common |
|
She's your lab partner, for crying out loud.
Tell her you're going to go for coffee (or a sandwich, or whatever) after lab and you were wondering if she'd like to go too. No pressure. No hassle. Just two lab partners partaking in post-lab victuals.
Then see what develops from there.
But for crying out loud, make the move.

8. Compliment her, Charlie Brown |
|
You're post reminded me of him and the little red-headed girl he adored. He lost out, and so did the Wooden Indian sung by Hank Williams in "Kalija" (check for spelling)because they didn't say anything. If she's all that some other man might snatch her up. Call her by name and tell her how you think she is so smart, women love that too. Ask her out for coffee and be funny. Humor is great. Lots of luck and keep us posted.

11. Ask her to grab a coffee with you after class |
|
and then if all goes well ask her what she's into. Maybe she'll mention something you both like and that will lead to an opening to ask her out.

13. Ask her if she wants to study at a coffee shop |
|
I always see students studying at coffee shops, so it can't be that out of style. A meeting or two outside the lab, and you will be able to tell if she's interested or not.

18. You're in western MA, right? |
|
Ask her to go for a post-class drink at Hugo's in Noho. Hugo's has a decent jukebox full o' tunes, cheap drinks, and a slightly rowdy crowd. It'll be a good place to go for that "getting to know you outside of class" phase, but it won't seem too much like a date.
Just my .02 ;-).

21. it's fun to have a crush on classmates..... |
|
The thing is don't have crushes on unattainable women (such as women with girlfriends or boyfriends)
I've learned that the hard way.

do a really cool lab experiment---something fun that you can do that'll get her attention. I'm thinking of something like magically changing liquids or having smoke come out of a flask.....

I think it was my Chem lab a few weeks ago...Magnesium and hydrochloric acid, made a pretty purple flame swirl around on top of the water and a puff of smoke came out...it was pretty cool.
Note to self: use diluted HCL, so as to not disfigure the pretty girl.
