1. I went twice, once in November and again in February
and all my friends were SHOCKED they let me come back in to the US!
Didn't have any trouble at all.

2. Went two weeks ago thru I-87 in New York. It took more time getting
into Canada than the US. We had the two kids with us, so we had to show thier birth certificates. When we came back, they only asked for our picture i.ds - nothing for the kids. No problems -- and we came back the day day after the second London attack.

We were on a tourbus at the Vermont border. Normally they would just ask the leader of the group some questions and that was it.

We had to take remove all items from the overhead bins and exit the bus. They were placed on a tble outside. All the luggage was taken out of the luggage bin. We then got in line and had to go into Customs, show our passport and answer any questions, if they had any. They didn't ask me any; nobody got "grilled" or pulled aside.

We then came out and had to point which luggage bag(s) were yours before they put it back in the bin. They also checked the interior of the bus. They did not open any bags.

They were nice and they did apologize for the extra measures. This was being done to all buses because of the 7/7 bombings.

7. Passport? We don't have passports. Hope state IDs and drivers licenses
will do.

10. Take birth certificates.
D/L is not proof of citizenship.

This is why passports are preferred nowadays.

11. That should be OK ...
you should bring birth certificates as well, if you have them.

13. Those are fine. I STILL haven't gotten my passport.
As long as you have a drivers license and a copy of your birth certificate, you'll be ok. :-)

5. Flying or driving?
I had no problems flying in or out, except for a wait getting through Canadian customs.
