Hey, if he was 16yrs. 3 months old, she could argue that God starts life at conception, that humans are human the moment sperms (that's right, plural!!! Surprise!!! No longer a mystical fairy tale of 1 sperm and 1 egg, is it???) hit the egg. And that non-Christians foolishly think life begins at birth, as if it grew instantaneously just seconds prior.

16 years 3 months plus 9 to "cook" properly equals 17 years!

This stuff wasn't around in my day. In my day, you were lucky to get a peek at your Daddy's Playboy. We didn't have internet porn or teachers wanting to have sex. We had to walk a mile in the snow and sneak into the porno theater.

10. The problem isn't age, it's power.

Look, I'm almost 32 years old and work on a college campus full of attractive 18-24 year olds that I'm not allowed to touch. Why not? Because a person in a position of authority should NEVER be in a sexual relationship with a subordinate. There's too much proven potential for abuse, domination, and harassment.

Personally, I could give a damn if a 40 year old lady was having sex with a 17 year old boy...and no, I don't have a problem with the ages being reversed either. 40 year olds have sex. 17 year olds have sex. Big deal.

What I have a problem with is a person using their position of authority to initiate or control that sexual contact. It is impossible to determine in these situations how much of the sexual contact is voluntary, and how much is an attempt to ingratiate themselves with their sexual partner to obtain something else. It's also WAY too difficult to tell when someone is being coerced into sex under threat or duress.

If my 17 year old daughter told me that she were having sex with our 40 year old neighbor, I'd be unhappy about it for many reasons that have nothing to do with sex, but I probably wouldn't end it (some lessons can only be learned by living them). If my 17 year old daughter told me she was sleeping with her 25 year old teacher, I'd flip out and have the guy fired, arrested, or worse.
