Marketing BULLSHIT!

Let's say you have an old album, and you re-release it on CD, and you add a few live tracks or demos or alternate takes or unreleased songs from the period in which the album was recorded.

THOSE...my friends...are BONUS tracks.

But the new Alice Cooper CD lists track 13 as a "bonus track"...the CD is ONE DAY OLD!

The CD is FORTY SIX MINUTES LONG...INCLUDING the "bonus track!"

Where I come from, Alice owes me another 34 minutes of music.

And to make matters worse, he's is a fuckin' FREEPER. "And we got no principles" INDEED.

1. Woman Of Mass Distraction
2. Perfect
3. You Make Me Wanna
4. Dirty Diamonds
5. The Saga Of Jesse Jane
6. Sunset Babies ( All Got Rabies )
7. Pretty Ballerina
8. Run Down The Devil
9. Steal That Car
10. Six Hours
11. Own Worst Enemy
12. Zombie Dance
13. Stand (Bonus Track, featuring Xzibit)

2. I read articles in 2004 saying that he was a freeper...
And when I Googled "Alice Cooper Republican," this is the first link that came up:

Alice Cooper Speaks Out Against John Kerry Rockers

http://www.laughatliberals.com/blog/archives/2004/alice-cooper-speaks-out-against-john-kerry-rockers/

I didn’t know that Alice Cooper was a conservative until finding this article the Canoe Entertainment Network quotes Alice Cooper:

“If you’re listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you’re a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we’re morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal.”

Alice Cooper also reportedly said “when I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn’t already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that’s a good reason right there to vote for Bush.”

I’ll stick with Cooper’s wisdom, but the article also mentions that Britney Spears is a Republican.

3. Does anyone CARE that he's released a new album?
Has anyone cared at any point in the last 20 years or so, for that matter?

I give it two weeks before it hits the $6.99 sale racks.

4. This has been discussed to death
if you load up a CD with 80 minutes worth of music, the artist will only be able to produce an album every 5 years or so, or there will be even more filler songs (i.e. crap songs) It's not a good idea.

5. True, and it forms the foundation for the "Napster Argument"...
..."If an artist releases a CD with 12 songs on it, and 11 of them are filler, should I pay $20 for the CD in order to support the artist who is ripping me off, or should I just download the song I like for FREE?"

But I've still gotta ask, how the hell can a track on a 46 minute CD be a "bonus?"

6. Saw him in concert last Halloween, days before the election.
He trashed both candidates in the stage show during 'I want to be elected'. He just hates politicians.

7. Well...
Seeing that back in the days of vinyl, the typical record held no more than 30 minutes of music, since squeezing any more than that, the dynamic range of the music suffers considerably.

Of course, with the advent of CDs, more music was being burned to the disc, but still, the average CD length is around 56 minutes or thereabouts... So, it appears that more artists than just Alice Cooper owe you a good chunk of music.

8. It makes sense in this regard...

It's a "bonus" track because a duet or remix or whatever with Xzibit doesn't really fit with the rest of the album. He may have even been pressured by the record company to add it on to the CD, so he might not really consider it part of the album. Hence it is a "bonus".

You're probably being too literal with the definition of "bonus".
