Am I safe from identity theft now? |
|
I called all the credit bureaus and requested that they put fraud alerts on my file. Will that protect me?

It won't prevent it from happening. It will however minimize the impact if it does happen. There is a better chance of them catching it earlier.

It may take a little while to process a credit card under your SSN # if they applied for one.
Better to send each Credit Bureau a letter with a copy of the police report for your file. Otherwise, it could take years to straighten out.
