I hope that you put yourself down on the list, and do that.
I wasn't single when I adopted, but a social worker friend of mine adopted four!
She is doing well.
This retired social worker would love to see you go through with it!

2. I've been considering it for a few years. I'm really excited and I can't |
|
wait to try. I was just worried about being single and how that is viewed.

3. No kids. No plans for kids. But: GOOD FOR YOU!!! |
|
There are many loving children who need loving caregivers. Good for you for considering this compassionate route to parenthood and family.

4. Thank you! I think I'd be a good mom. Since I don't think I'll ever |
|
marry it shouldn't prevent me from leaving a legacy.

5. Once again, congrats! Best of luck exploring all your options. |

I'm from Oregon--we like and respect the single parents with the adopted kids. We had the first male single parent of an adopted child in the nation. Very nice man, I met him once. You definitely don't need to have a partner to be a good parent or a good mom--good luck again!

in my home 2 years as foster kids, no one wanted all three, so i did. that was 9 years ago. they are 13 14 and 15 now and all three are thriving beyond expectations. i am blessed, and would love to answer any of your questions.

7. I'm a single parent. Not fun. |

If I had it to do over again, I'd make sure I was married to the right person first. No relief pitchers, no other person to take off from work when the kid is sick, etc. One income is the part that *really* blows. That is my Tuesday night, really tired single parent reply.
It *is* cool not having to check with someone else first before you make plans/discipline/sign up the kid for activities. on edit: And I'd recommend children to everyone--it's a good experience. So if you want kids but don't want to wait to get married, good for you. Just be prepared, LOL.
I think it's great that you want to do that, but if you do, make sure you have a strong support group, members of the opposite sex around (making father's day cards at school was fun this year, not).... and a stable/good job.
