Poll question: Do you give the silent treatment to people you are angry at?
Or do you tell them exactly how you feel? Which one gets the best results for you? Which one causes more hurt feelings?

3. Tell them how I feel
If it isn't a big enough deal to get into a tizzy about, then I just try to forget it and move on. I hate getting the silent treatment.

5. I tell them.
Unless I am really too mad to explain it without hurting their feelings.

6. I do, and I really shouldn't.
I hate doing it. I really should just yell at people. Like my father.

7. Silent treatment
until I am mellowed out enough to tell them in no uncertain terms why they're wrong and they suck without missing any details.

there's nothing worse than yelling at someone and walking away and having to come back later to yell at them some more because you forgot some shit the first time.

10. No
It's fucking immature bullshit.
If someone has a problem with me, I fully expect someone to say something about it, and I do the same.
Seriousl, the silent treatment is just BS.

11. I do both
sometimes I have at 'em, especially if it is one of those things that makes you furious right away.

Other times, some one does something wrong and I let it simmer until I become a smouldering cauldron of rage and despair. :hi:

12. I never mastered the silent treatment...

Depending on who it is, I may try to temper it, but I usually pretty much just say what I feel.

21. Me either..I'd rather fight like alley cats than do the silent thing
although when I don't want to say things I don't mean, I do go away for a while

23. But isn't that kinda the flip-side of the same coin?
Shunning vs silence?

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "going away". :)

19. I absolutely HATE the silent treatment.,
Being a person that likes to discuss problems as they happen, I find the silent treatment to be galling.

15. Silent treatment only if I'm so angry that I might say something I don't
want to say. Otherwise, I either tell them or swallow it.

16. With my passive-agressive tendencies that's easy for me to do
with someone I'm angry at. Speaking my mind when I'm upset will cause way more hurt feelings because I'm usually not very tactful when voicing my displeasure.

22. my ex- does that
which is the main reason why we're getting divorced. she doesn't talk about things that bug her-- and she used to be a counsellor!

if there's a problem, let it out. i don't want to guess.

26. Depends on the situation
depends on who it is and depends on how much the effects of my speaking out can effect me.

I haven't said more than 30 words, approximately, to my older sister in two years for a variety of reasons. I would very much love to tell her off but don't need to be outcasted from my "family" any more than I already am for not kissing her ass every chance I get.

With other people, who anger me and who I don't have to deal with on a regular basis, I get great satisfaction from telling them how I feel about them and why.
