Oh god....When naming children...THINK!!!
A friend of a friend named their child Crystal. Which is bad enough (no offense) but, the last name is Matheson. Did it cross their minds that her name is very dangerously close to being Crystal Meth? Or am I just catty?

...who had a daughter named Heidi Weiner! This was in the 70's, so I hope that the girl got married!

Our son's GOD-Mother had a relative who thought that the hospital staff had named her daughter for her "Female", pronounced "FAH_MA_LEE"!

24. I've seen him and he's a Wisconsin sports columnist
He goes by Micheal, but I swear, somewhere in the deep dark recesses of my memories this guy was Mike once. (or my family was just being rude to him while reading the paper, or I'm thinking of a different guy, which is also likely)

At any rate:

6. I had a friend growing up named Mike Hunt
No, Mike was not short for Michael. His parents broke up while his mom was pregnant. Despite the fact that he hated his name his mom thought that naming him after his father would somehow win him back. It didn't work.

12. Went to school with a Jay Walker
What were they thinking?

Also had a friend with a friend named "Mai Tai" - whose mother claimed that she was drinking a mai tai when she received the good news that she was pregnant. Yeah, right..! That's clearly something made up to cover the regrettable choice of something "cute" not being so "cute" when you have to tell your little girl that she's named after a drink that led to her conception.

32. Hey, Gypsy Rose Lee made a good living as a stripper!
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 09:01 PM by Radio_Lady
Of course, her real name was Rose Louise Hovick. See her information at:
http://www.streetswing.com/histmai2/d2gypsy1.htm

Don't know about Cheyenne Rose. What did it for you, just the name "Rose"? Frankly, I like the western names. Cheyenne has always had a mystique for me -- but there are so many variations on the spelling. Alternate spellings of names are what drive me nuts.

I don't know how popular the name Cheyenne is now. Maybe it's run its course.

Social Security has kind of an interesting compilation of popular names by year at:

http://www.ssa.gov
Then use their search function to find: popular baby names

My name is Ellen, one of the old fashioned names. Prior to Ellen De Generes, I can't think of any celebrity with that name. There was a clothing company named Ellen Terry or Ellen Tracy.

A few months ago, I ran into an "Ellen" about six years old. What a relief!

Now, let's talk about my middle name "STAR" -- that's it! My mother didn't know what she was doing in 1939, but I've tried to live up to my name. I added a second "R" to avoid pomposity!

Making peace a priority,

Radio Lady

15. Three siblings who went to my high school. Last name Mountain
Their given names were Rocky, Candy, and Smoky Mountain. I shit you not. Smoky was in my economics class. His big brother Rocky ended up being a political operative for a local Republican county commissioner (Harris County, Texas) and got in a lot of trouble over some embezzlement scandal. Had it not been for that scandal, and with an excellent name like that, I'm sure he would've have made it to Congress by now.

Yes, that's right, this kid's idiotic parents named their kid after a sports network. Of course, I don't know if anything can beat that stupid celebrity that named her kid Apple. I swear, that kid is going to get his or her ass kicked in school so bad.
