Why is it not "anti-social"?

Social is going out and being with people.

Anti-social would theoretically then be not going out and not being with people?

correct, when i don't feel like being around people, i say i'm being anti-social

i don't have to actually go and columbine the schoolyard to call myself anti-social tho no doubt i'd have better cred as anti-social if i did

2. Anti-social = intentionally rude, disruptive, obnoxious, etc.

Asocial is the proper term. (Think of antisocial personality disorder.)

Some insects are social but not because they go out and hang with people. And some insects are not social although they do go out and hang with people.
