2. Are you using internet explorer as your browser?
If so, click on tools, then internet options, then "delete files" under the temporary internet files. Also, before you say okay, check "delete all offline content."

4. are you using internet explorer?
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 09:31 PM by hwmnbn
if you are,

left click on tools,
left click on internet options,
in the general tab, left click delete files.

Better yet start using firefox http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

or if you prefer an easier way: use this privacy tool (it's free)
http://browsertools.net/IE-Privacy-Keeper/index.html

on edit: said it is free

6. If you've never cleaned out those files before

you should be seeing a big change in your computer's performance by now. There's software that will clean up a lot of junk like that that you don't really need. I use Window Washer. It helps a lot.

12. Try running NAV in "Safe" mode.

It might take a little longer but it does a more thorough job that way.

13. ahhh, the joys of IE... fine fine... J^2 what's your OS?
in winxp:
C:\Documents and Settings\JIMMYJAZZ\Local Settings\Temporary Internet files

and

C:\Documents and Settings\JIMMYJAZZ\Local Settings\Cookies

delete 'em all

You'll need to have show hidden files on (from windows explorer -> tools-> folder options)

18. Here's an excellent, general purpose cleaner
Its called CCleaner. Its **free**, fast, secure and easy to use. Cleans caches of internet explorer, firefox, Windows media player and more. Also comes with several utilities. You'll be surprised at how much space / hassle it saves you. Try it:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

Hope that helps.

I have a lengthy list of really helpful software people could use (but haven't heard much about), I think I'll start a new thread and post a few.
