Those bastards can fuck themselves before I take one of their cruises.

There's an economical argument here, too - by using old songs and recordings they are denying talented people paying jobs.

7. Narrowing it down to three is a tough one...
1) People who steal my art and pass it off as their own work
2) Peole who are too dense to absorb a well-reasoned, fact-based argument in a debate (or absorb the argument, but respond by saying that it doesn't matter to them)
3) Mediocrity constantly being shoved down our throats by the entertainment industry

People who support Bush and the republicans but don't have a fucking clue what is the neocon agenda and how it is soooooooo not in their interests.

People who are so fucking stupid that they think businesses/corporations/individuals are forbidden from violating their constitutional rights.

TV commercials with sappy, heart-tugging songs. Boo fucking hoo!

16. Three things?
1. Injustice, anywhere, any time, any day.

2. Hateful, blood sucking, evil people who allow their hate to hurt others and who hurt others for sport.

3. Ignorance - not bother trying to find out what is really happening in this world, to our nation, to other people in our name, because of fear - "it's just too scary" :argh:

That'll do for now, but if you said 4 things, I would add the caste system in the USofA. Poor people, lower middle class people, hell, middle class people are people and deserve to be treated with respect. Number 4 should be up there with Number 1 since the caste system is the greatest injustice in the world.

24. let me make this perfectly clear.
I met them - more than once. They were VERY nice people. But, what the fuck happened that they have their songs on every other commercial on the television? And don't tell me it's corporate greed - those songs are owned by Townshend and Daltrey.

29. So you have completely forgotten that they did an entire album
based on "selling out" ... what was the name of that album again???? Oh yeah - THE WHO SELL OUT <---- how prophetic. I'm sorry, but I cannot listen to Quadrohpenia and feel about it the way I once did. One or two commercials might be fine, but HUMMER, ffs? What gives?

BTW - I'm in a really crabby mood over the Hackett loss, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Thanks. :(

28. RE: The first thing..
.that pisses me off, too, and it's ALSO a violation of fire safety regulations in most locales (both of a set of double doors must be unlocked, to provide easier egress in event of fire). Mentioning this fact to someone in the store usually results in it not happening again (they can actually be fined for doing it).

36. so do you hate the Who
or do you hate the commerialization of their music?

I have seen too many commercials featuring the Rolling Stones, and I cannot stand them. Thankfully I have a mute button now. Also I am glad that the Dr. Pepper commercial featuring Garth Brooks has been consigned to the dustbin of pop history.

It ticks me off when a light turns red just as I am gettin up to it, especially if it just turned green about 3 seconds ago.

42.  Are you comparing two or three Clash
songs for products such as Levi Jeans and Jaguar to every other fuggin' commercial out there? Okay, I'm exaggerating a little. But still.

Also, not to split hairs, but the Clash got totally fucked over by their manager and their record company and made very little money during their time together. In fact, Joe didn't accept royalties on Sandinista in an effort to keep the price of the album down.

On the contrary, the Who were not sold out by their management, made a shitload of money and lived extravagant rock star lifestyles. What a shame that they feel they need more, more, more.

Believe me, it pains me to write this. I was more of a Who fan than a Clash fan. Pete Townshend was the one who helped pique my interest in the Clash. It's just pitifully sad that a band who once produced an album called "Sell Out" did just that. :(

As a total aside: Joe never once shunned his socialist politics. Pete showed his politics have a price as well. http://www.notbored.org/townshend.html

46. Hey I'm not blaming the Clash
I know they were fucked over, and I know Townsend is a self-serving fuckwit.

After all, I was probably MOST pissed by the use of "The Revolution Will Not be Televised", a furiously biting rap on Black Power, to be used to sell Nike shoes.

Gil Scott Heron had nothing to do with this, and this decsision was made by his surviving relatives.

48. Coworkers who care about whether someone is gay or not
I have one who is forever saying, "Do you know so and so is gay?". I usually respond with something like "Since the topic never came up and I never really had any reason for wondering, no, I didn't know. How does that affect your life?".

I'm not gay, I just don't get why some people care so much about other people's sexuality.
