I watched this fascinating doc last night on PBS: The Journey of Man |
|
it's premise was that all mankind originated in Africa, and we are all bascially related. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2002/12/1212_021213_journeyofman.html

6. make sure you check out the info on the link I provided |
|
it was a truly fascinating show.
They say the journey began in Africa on foot. The Americas was entered via the Bering Sea, which at that time was nothing but an icy land mass.

12. Man, that was fascinating! |
|
I was getting goosebumps when I saw it. I especially liked hearing the African bushmen speaking - it's really an old, old language. As he moved from group to group, you could see the subtle changes in features. We are living in a remarkable time where we have the technology to investigate this before the genetic markers disappear.
I loved the guy who found out that his family was the ancestral family for his region. He was relieved because he thought the doctor was going to tell him he had cancer. :)

15. I read somewhere that caucasians where decended from |
|
Asians and Africans. The Asians first left Africa and their descendants then met up with their African relatives, and the descendants of this meet up were the Caucasians. This explained why the Asian orAfrican gene was dominant when mixed with Caucasian genes. Sounded logical to me.
