Has anyone watched the movie - The Island ?
Took my son to it the other day. I am a fan of Ewan MacGregor. I won't go into all the storyline and details - but if you did see it - was is what you expected it to be? Did you enjoy it?

I found parts of it to be compelling - and others.....well....not so much. But I did enjoy it.

Thoughts?

1. I'm a big fan of Ewan McGregor. And I love Scarlett, Djimon, Sean
Bean, Steve Buscemi, and Michael Clark Duncan. But even with all that stellar talent, I kinda figured the movie was going to suck because Michael Bay directed it. I had free passes though, and I wouldn't miss an opportunity to see Ewan for free. So I guess I wouldn't say I was disappointed, but neither was I impressed.

Basically, I thought the premise was very interesting. And, like I said, I really enjoy many of the actors in the film (although, as much as I enjoy looking at him, I think Djimon Honsou was miscast). But whoever wrote the script should be arrested. How many times can two people yell "RUN!" at each other in the same movie? And Michael Bay's direction was as pedestrian and explosion-happy as ever.

Too bad, with a better writer and a better director the movie could've been very good. Maybe when all those great actors signed on they were under the impression that someone more talented was going to direct.

2. I liked it
but the scene where they're hanging off the building, and they fall and stuff is falling around them?

really, really reminded me of the terrorist attacks, and that's not what I go to movies for.

I live in California, too.

I thought maybe the people who made the movie should have thought about it a little more before putting that scene in.

4. Never looked at that scene that way
But I did chuckle when they fell 70 stories and walked away with a little scratch.......

5. Your mom has good taste.
I'm in love with Sean Bean too.

I'd like to see someone take his portrayal of Odysseus in Troy, and make a new Odyssey movie out of it.

7. has she seen Sharpe's Rifles series yet?
he was pretty much the good guy in that series, if I remember.

Yeah, I don't like him as the bad guy most of the time ... but it's better than not seeing him at all!
