Misunderstanding song lyrics: What are your "problem songs?"
See if you can guess which songs I am butchering with the way I originally thought the lyrics went:

"Jock Ala Hard and your too late, baby you give love a bad name.'

"Put me up, put me down, put my feedbag on the ground."

"Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a dewshend of the ronner in the night."

4. I still am not sure what the last song you have says.
Someone said it was "Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another loner in the night"

There's a good website dedicated to mis-heard song lyrics, but I can't think of it now.

"Going to Alabama with a Band-Aid on my knee." Made sense to me - I always had Band-Aids on my knees.

13. LOL...here are some lyrics a friend of mine butchered
Right lyrics (if I remember them rightly):

I get knocked down but I get up again, they're never gonna keep me down

BUTCHERED

I got no job but I got up again, cause I have a really mean guitar."

I thought "Bringing in the sheaves" was "bringing in the sheets" which also made a lot of sense to me.

What kid, unless they were raised in a farm environment, would know what sheeves were? But sheets....who hasn't had line-dried laundry brought into the house!

14. Rocket Man...
I used to think he was singing, "Rocket Man, burnin' up the trees on ev'ry lawn."

My best friend and I went to see "Evita" when it came out, and afterwards he said, "It was okay, but I still don't know what tea has to do with anything." I said, "Tea?" And he said, "Yeah, she kept singing about tea.. You know, 'Just a little touch of stockwater tea.' What the hell is stockwater tea?" I couldn't talk for about five minutes, I was laughing so hard. Finally I was able to calm down enough to say, very slowly and distinctly, "Just. A. Little. Touch. Of. Star. Quality."

"scuse me while I kiss this guy" wasn't on here. But I always new it was "Excuse me while I kiss the sky."

Now there is "The Immigrant Song" by Led Zepplin. I was so off about it when I first heard it as a teenager. I finally got the right lyrics from the "Kitty Viking" video. Here's my list.

I thought:

'where the midnight sun and the high wind blow'

When it was:

"Where midnight and the hotsprings blow"

I thought:

Something like 'We are in love' or words to that effect

When it was:

"The hammer of the Gods"

Me:

'We are from the poor. We sing and cry. Valera I am coming."

When it was:

"We fight the hoard. Singing and crying. Vahhala I am coming"

Me:

'Or we scream we're threshed poor. I want to go where we can twist and shout'. lol

Lyrics:

"Or we sweep, with threshing oar. Our only goal will be the westerm shore."

"How soft your fields so green." Ok.

Mine:

*Unintelligible* ... lore.

Lyrics:

"Whisper tails of gore."

'And how we calm, no fights or wars.'

Lyrics:

"How we calmed the tides of war"

The list goes on .......

24. A bit off topic, but in the same spirit
As a kid I always thought, "30 days, same as cash" was "30 days, famous cash". I also thought "Brought to you by (a product)" was one word, "bratayouby"

25. Louie Louie Lyrics.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie,_Louie

There's more info on the site.

First the FBI translation:

Lyrics from 1965 FBI files
Louie, Louie...oh yea, a-way we go
Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea
Louie, Louie...oh baby, a-way we go

A fine little girl – she wait for me.
Me catch the ship – a-cross the sea.
I sailed the ship – all a-lone.
I never think – I'll make it home.

Louie, Louie...a-way we go

Three nights and days we sailed the sea.
Me think of girl constant-ly.
On the ship – dream she there.
I smell the rose – in her hair.

Louie, Louie...oh baby, a-way we go

Me see Jamaica – moon a-bove.
It won't be long – me see me love.
Me take her in arms and then.
I tell her I never leave a-gain.

Louie, Louie...oh yea, a-way we go

Now the Original lyrics:

Louie, Louie, me gotta go
Louie, Louie, me gotta go.

Fine little girl, she wait for me.
Me catch the ship for across the sea.
Me sail the ship all alone.
Me never thinks me make it home.

Louie, Louie, me gotta go.
Louie, Louie, me gotta go.

Three nights and days me sailed the sea.
Me think of girl constantly.
On the ship, I dream she there.
I smell the rose in her hair.

Louie, Louie, me gotta go.
Louie, Louie, me gotta go.

Me see Jamaican moon above.
It won't be long, me see me love.
I take her in my arms and then.
Me tell her I never leave again.

Louie, Louie, me gotta go.
Louie, Louie, me gotta go.

31. "I carry a laser on this road that I must travel."
It's actually "Kyrie eleison on this road that I must travel." But to my hearing impaired ears it sounded different.

Also Snoop Dog's "Park it Like it's Hot."

I always hear "Bark it like it's Hard."

Or "Drop it like it's High."
