I'm not having a good week....
With all that's going on in world these days, coupled with all the preperations I have to make for my move in thirty one days. It's getting to me. There's also something else that's really been bothering me. I've heard refences here on DU to a possible terrorist attack rumored to involve WMDs on american cities coincidong with the 50th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Now, I keep telling myself that the links to these stories come from sites like WorldNetDaily, and therefore are about as accurate as the Weekly World News's latest exclusive photo of Donald Rumsfeld in a speedo. (Yes, this is an actual story in the WWN Link: http://www.weeklyworldnews.com/features/politics/61698 WARNING: Not for the faint of stomach) However, there's a small part of me that's actually believing the bullshit coming from WorldNetDaily. So now, I'm all stressed out and am dreading the coming of the weekend.

1. I hear you bro!
the thing that has me spooked is that both * and Cheney are on extended vacations again, just like 4 years ago.

The only comfort I get is that if my number is up, it is up, whether I die in a car wreck, a plane crash, a terrorist attack, or of natural causes, I am going to die...

Be good to yourself in the meantime.

the power to make you live in fear, JC. That's what they _want_.

4. As I said before...

Even though pretty well much all the sources that I've seen about this rumor are firmly entrenched in the extreme tinfoil hat wearing wing of the fundiegelical right, It's still got me scared.

One of my biggest fears has always been humanity killing itself, and me getting caught up in it.

6. This is my advice
And I took this myself after 9/11; life your life, and whatever happens, happens. Be nicer to people, yourself, whoever; it doesn't matter. You can't live your life chained in fear about what might happen, because in a very real sense it's worse than anything catastrophic happening.

Fear is something that puts you in a prison that shadows everything you do. You can't live that way and really expect to live. I know w/ those in power now fear is a very real darkness, but you can't let it control your life.

Live, and live fully, w/o the chains of things you can't control. It'll be a revelation when you break the chains of fear, a revelation that will make your life much, much better.

Good luck.

13. You have to
I was like you for a long time, and I realized how much it disrupted my life for the worse. It isn't easy to do, but it can be done.

As much as I love DU, I have to take a break from it (and the blogs) every so often just because of this kind of thing. You can get too wrapped up in this never-ending depressive train that both RL and political blogs andboards like this fuel; it's best to step away for awhile and regain perspective about what you can control in your life.

11. I totally feel you. I can't offer you any real advice...
because of my feelings about this subject (namely...nevermind, it won't help your mood). All I can generally say is that I get up everyday, push back my revulsion, anger, and fear, and try to soldier on. Because as much as we would like to try to stop The Next Bad Thing, there's really not too much any of us here at the site can do.

But if you have a blog or something--you know what I say. If you've got it; blog it. At least that's publicity of a kind regarding the next possible disaster. My position is: the more publicity something of this nature receives, even if it's "only" online publicity, the less likely it is to happen.

12. bush is like the scarecrow in Gotham City...one of those characters who
specializes in the psychology of fear ... bush has elevated fear to the state of TERROR, however... and terror is what he calls HIS war, "the war on TERROR"...except that Bush's war on TERROR is a war on the psychology of peace loving AMERICANS whom he wants to submit to his will and away from any form of dissent, free speech and other democratic type processess.

Bush knows how to use terror and how to plant terror.

Terror refers to a pronounced state of fear, where someone becomes overwhelmed with a sense of immediate danger.

Bush himself suffers from a certain degree of
Paranoia. That is why he lives in a bubble--and jackbootedthugs, and military helicopters, and armored vehicles have to guard him whenever he travels anywhere away from the W.H. where more jackbooted thugs live on the rooftop.

Paranoia is term to describe a psychosis of fear, related to perception of being persecuted. This perception often causes one to change their normal behaviour in radical ways, after time their behavior may become extremely compulsive.

please don't let bush's seed of fear take hold of you.

and for a good laugh, here is a picture of bush's man in charge of bullets in this war of fear planting.

15. Likely some of it is!
As with everything else, there is probably a kernel of truth in there, but it is not the whole truth.

The point is, there has not been a large scale terrorist attack on in our country (except *'s pResidency) since 9/11/01

17. I agree
Keeping people in fear is keeping them in control; it's a time-honored device for those in power throughout history.
