2. I miss Trader Joe's
But I live in the outer suburbs now. Actually I miss a lot of things in the suburbs, but who can afford to buy in Arlington, VA?

I'm lucky to have a local food co-op... never lived close enough to TJ's to shop there, though. Cool for you!

5. This is justifiable
We all need to eat, and since we all must buy from SOME kind of store, I will clue you in:

Trader Joe's specializes in organic and natural foods. Healthy. AND! Cheap. They price lower than the big chains. The stores are small and staffed with knowledgable staff. Safeway it ain't!

They don't sell big name brands. They often sell small indy names, or their own name. Or they import.

There is nothing wrong with being a SMART consumer in a consumer-saturated society. Especially when your choices run counter to big corporations. :-)

How did you EVER live without TJs? I weep for your 2-year deprivation!

(and don't forget the wine selection....pretty damn good for a grocery store)

12. I LOVE the wine selection
The prices are right for some damn good wines.

I lived a mile from one in Burien WA, but northern AZ had none because it was not on their distribution route.

Now there are 2 in short driving distance. Woohoo! :D

20. You lived in Burien?
My husband is from Normandy Park.

I still go to the Burien TJs sometimes--much easier to get to than the one in the U District.

21. Yep
Lived all over western WA, and finished my stint there with 2+ years in Burien. My old apartment is now the crash zone for the third runway.

The TJ's in Burien was a handy shopping plaza. Mongolian Grill, TJ's, Albertson's, and a liquor store. :D

7. Happy Zomby and nini! Hope it's also close by. Mine is 2 blocks away!
I honestly couldn't live without Trader Joe's. Ever since our grocery strike, they've been my one and only grocery store.

Have you had this beer yet? I highly recommend it. Brewed exclusively for Trader Joe's in San Luis Obispo by Firestone under the Steinhaus name.

Did I mention it's 7.0% alcohol? Woohoo

9. Awww, how sweet! You've reconciled!

So, are they back in your life because you moved and now have one nearby again? Or were you boycotting them for some reason for two years?

I've never been to a trader joe's.

14. When I was in northern AZ
They had none. So yes, it was a matter of moving back near them.

See my reply to jus_the_facts above (whom I know was having fun, but it was a teachable moment, lol). You would love their coffee! :donut:

10. I have never been impressed with Trader Joes
At least the one near us defines the word Crappy-ass Health food store.

The fact that their produce section sucks big-time, they rest of their food section seems to be overpriced and not much of a selection.

Maybe it's me but I'd rather just shop at my local Shop-Rite which I researched and found out their a blue company!

18. I'm boycotting Trader Joe's.
Unfortunately, Trader Joe's continues to sell eggs from battery-caged hens. Whole Foods Market and Wild Oats Natural Marketplaces have stopped selling eggs from battery-caged hens confined in tiny wire coops. This simple decision by Whole Foods and Wild Oats will spare thousands of birds from lives of misery.

I liked TJ's, but am boycotting them until they change this. And since, I've become a huge fan of Whole Foods... ;)

Yesterday there was a pro-meat poster in the Atkins thread with a Dennis Kucinich avatar.

I think that's worse.
