Linux question: What flavor of Linux...
would support SCSI?

I just tried Fedora and it panicked.

I'm downloading Mandrake Mini-Install (hoping that I can get the rest over the 'net)

But suggestions are welcome.

1. i have
used redhat 9.0 and had no problems not sure if it would support SCSI.

Suse is another good version to try out.

4. I already have 3 computers running XP
1 running Windows 2003 SBS with Exchange.

I think that's more than enough Windows stuff.

I just want one with Linux as I am relearning all Unix stuff for a job interview coming up soon.

3. Any distro should
I use Slackware, it's light on fancy-pants user interfaces but it's very sensible and it works.

I've tried Mandrake (Mandriva) and it is OK. My brother uses SuSE and that's OK too.

5. Knoppix is a distro that excels on hardware detection
Although I'm surprised that Fedora would refuse to install. Their hardware detection is nothing to sneeze at.

Anyway, chances are you'll be able to boot from the Knoppix CD and it'll recognize everything. From there you'll folowing the instructions for hard drive install at http://linuxreviews.org/software/linux-distros/knoppix-install

7. Do you mean iScsi or SCSI
All Linuxes support SCSI, probably more than they would support SATA.

But RHEL is the only dist I know that supports iSCSI.

8. i've used redhat for YEARS now...
with scsi jazz drives, scsi zip drives, scsi scanners, scsi hard drives. never had a problem at all (except for my scsi card periodically coming unseated, but that has nothing to do with linux and everything to do with the cheap-ass equipment i have)

9. Libranet, based on debian
It generally gets excellent reviews for ease of installation and use as a desktop os even by linux newbies. Google libranet and check out the reviews yourself. The two computers I run it on don't use SCSI devices so I can't answer that specifically.
