The never-popular Tunes You Love That The Cool Kids Hate thread
At this time, I'm going to admit to "Think I'm in Love" by Eddie Money. If this gets any traction, I can trot out many, many others. I've got a million of them; I'm old as the hills, have an encyclopedic memory, and cool kids never worried me. You?

1. Ditto! Probably OLDER than the hills...
and I always loathed the "cool kids." Remember "Trojan Horse" by Luv? It had bagpipes and I adored it.
:hippie:

2. I love it when they put bagpipes into other types of music.
Glen Campbell has a song called "Mull of Kintyre" that uses bagpipes. It still gives me chills whenever I hear it.

4. Paul McCartney & Wings...
their recording of "Mull of Kintyre." I heard it first on a car radio while driving down the road. I had to pull over & listen. Goose bump city, man!

I am not laughing at you, just worrying about the safety of your teeth and kidneys.

10. The Star Wars theme
most of the other kids associated it too much with the new kind of Star Wars and so it was 'stupid'

Boy, I love that song.

Another one was 'American Idiot'

Most of the parents out here tell their kids not to listen to it because it talks about stupid people.

13. Aw, Carpenters are pretty respectable these days
I like most of their stuff, and only had a problem when gf made me listen to a greatest hits tape on a long drive. There's such a thing as too much Carpenters, even for a long, longtime fan.

14. I'm here.
I'm probably a virtual depository (not suppository, :D) of those types of songs. Growing up in a red state, country and metal were the king and queen of music. I always loved punk and took A LOT of flack for it. I especially loved "Mommy's Little Monster" and "Antifashion" by Social D and I have always loved the song "Fake Friends" by Joan Jett and the Blackhears. I love anything by Blondie too and much of their best music, believe it or not, was never really played. I liked the song, "Sunday Girl" by Blondie so much I named my cat after it. I was definitely considered NOT cool because of my taste in music.

The one that will shock many many people is that I actually liked some of the music of Milli Vanilli that I heard on the radio. I don't know who actually sang the songs and recorded the music, but I enjoyed "Sending All My Love To You".

Also, I always have loved <anything> by the Ramones. You name the song by them, I love it.

15. Most of my music collection
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 02:13 AM by last_texas_dem
Seriously. I guess it's just 'cause I've gotten into what I liked by finding out about it on my own, for the most part w/o anyone to steer me towards what was "cool" or to tell me what wasn't. Some of my favorite bands include Hall and Oates, Bread, Uriah Heep, It's a Beautiful Day, and the Guess Who. And in terms of individual songs- well, I probably shouldn't even get started on those!

A white Irish girl does crappy political rap with sampling from Fiddler on the Roof. Sucky, but I love it.
