Yes, what a nice truck you have. Very nice. Now, can you not go out to your car every fucking 10 minutes to chirp your alarm, and not let the fucker go off every half hour, not to mention it is now 2am, and the goddamned thing has been going off since 10:30. The purpose of a fucking car alarm is to go off when someone is trying to break into the damned thing.

I am sure you will be happy when the truck that called wolf is broken into by an irate, tired neighbor, and the fucking alarm is all that is stolen.

1. Call the cops.
Each and every time it happens after your county's noise ordinance curfew.

It worked for me when I lived in CT. The parking was under the building and the guy directly below me had an alarm that went off when the wind blew.

2. ROFL! I know how you feel, but keep in mind he gets an insurance
break for the alarm. He may be as pissed off at it as you.

I lived under a flight path to the airport once. Every time a military jet flew over, five or six car alarms would go off. You could hear the cursing as much as the alarms as the owners screamed at their cars.

8. I have a car alarm, he is going in and out of the car
Most car alarms arm automatically, or with one button push. I can hear the guy slam his door, he drives off, drives back, sets alarm. 10 minutes later, same thing. I think he is dealing drugs.

I can understand if there is a severe thunderstorm or such, but most alarms now are not as sensitive to stupid stuff. And this guy was purposeful about it, for 3 nights now.

Argh.

Thanks for listening to my bullshit!

5. A brick and a tow.
Back in college, we used to have that problem until someone made a post-it note and stuck it to every apartment door in the building:

"If your car alarm goes off for more than 1 hour, and it's between 1am-5am, you will get a brick in your windshield and a tow."

From that day forward, car-alarms were not a problem.

6. Our subdivision once had to listen to one of those for over 24 hours.
Sherrif was called, but said nothing could be done.
I was ready to torch the damn thing.

7. I hate car alarms
Whoever thought of using a blaring horn to try to scare off burglars ought to be shot.

There HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY.

10. I understand having them, but since 1990, it is not impressive anymore
I bet he pushes the button on his cell phone to make a ring noise, and then talks to nobody to try to impress people looking on.

15. Yeah, most people don't hate them as much as I do...
My brother-in-law has one that calls a security company and him if something happens to the car. Now that I can get behind.

Also that one in the commercial in Robocop where when the guy sits on the front seat, he's electrocuted to death. Not a bad option.

But all this honking just has to go! How many times out of 1,000 that an alarm goes off is it actually someone breaking into the car anyway?

19. Mine does a brief honk if someone bumps it lightly
I have only heard it once. Just a quick beep, I looked out the window, saw the car was ok, went back to sleep.

I don't have to chirp it 80 times to make sure it is turned on. It doesn't bother me, doesn't bother anyone else. I suppose some folks, like Mr Look at me I have a car alarm guy don't have any sense of moderation.

12. Make them affordable and accessible. Everybody can get one, so nobody will
want one.

That was one of the points to making a working class; everybody gets what they need and in turn the crime rate goes down.

People are like those Goodall apes. Jane Goodall studied apes and found that when one ape got something, all the other apey apes wanted the same thing too.

9. My car came with an alarm...
but luckily it only goes off when the door opens while the locks are engaged, and the car is off. It's never gone off excpet once when I locked the door before my SO got out of the car.  But that was in the middle of the day and I stopped the alarm after 3 seconds.

A lot of people in my neighborhood have alarms and let them go off for hours. It farking drives me NUTS!

16. I have a car alarm, but I don't feel the need to chirp it every 10 minutes
On occasion, if I sit in the car a moment before starting it, it will go off, and I feel like a stupid ass.

Just the deliberate assholiness of this guy is what gets me.

13. Car alarm assholes - that's another one in my list of things
that pisses me off.

At least it seems that most car alarms nowadays shut off quickly. Or maybe there's a law about it in NYC.

My apartment in Harlem was right across from a fire station, and damned near everytime a firetruck came blazing out, hooting its horn and revving its engine, it would set off a bunch of car alarms. But they all would shut up in 30 seconds or so.

And of course, there's the boom car filth who find it funny to drive around setting car alarms with their booming rap, hiphop, or salsa filth "music".

21. Nope, not just NYC.
I have a car alarm and it shuts off after an initial blast of noise. If it's just a jostling, it lets off a completely different little "Ay ay ay" kind of noise once then shuts the hell up.

I don't need to chirp it at all. The flashing blue light tells me (and all the poopyhead theives in my neighbourhood) it's on.

23. I have two words for you: Air Horn
Is your residence close to the chirping alarm guy? Ooookay. If you have a window that faces onto his residence, get an airhorn. Wait till 3 AM or so, stick your arm out of the window with said airhorn, and let it off for oh, about 15 seconds or so. (If you're really brave, you could hide in the bushes and do it, but you'd better be a pretty fast runner.)

Wait half an hour. Do it again. Wait twenty minutes. Do it again.

Go to bed. Act like you didn't hear anything the next morning. ;-)
