Can someone direct me to a message board for older democrats
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 10:47 AM by Old_Fart
When I type older + democrats into google the only thing that comes up is information about great people of the past. Where do your parents go on the internet to discuss democratic issues?

I like to keep my mind active and discuss issues that I have a great passion for. I can't find a board that has people that are over the age of high school kids.

12. Hey grandpa
Looks like you missed the poll that showed the average age of DUers is around 45.

If one of the several thousand active threads in LBN, GD, GDP, Op-Ed, or any of the dozens of groups and forums isn't about an issue that you have a great passion for, then start your own thread.

Or maybe the issue you have a great passion for is baiting the younger members of DU and starting flamewars. It's your call.

26. Possibly
But I think there were some things in the OP that weren't called for.

I'm one of the younger members of DU (mid 20's) and I'm less than thrilled with the person in the OP implying that young people are incapable of sophisticated political debate or discussion.

31. I saw no such implication. Those of us who are
older have much to discuss. Politics in our youth does not resemble what is going on today. We are dyed in the wool Democrats that remember what it was to be American. I should probably change my user name to The Old Fartess. I deplore what has happened to this country. I love DUers, no matter what age, and am happy to read what any DUer has to say. Maybe I misread your post, but I felt it was a rude reply to the Old Fart.

"I can't find a board that has people that are over the age of high school kids."

That's no implication. He's saying he CANNOT FIND a board that has people over the age of high school kids. What about the board he's posting it on?

Implication...

How we fought for civil rights and won them. The difference between organizing protests today as opposed to the past. McGovern, the Viet Nam War, Kennedy, gay rights, and everything else that was done for the good of our country.

33. "I never mentioned this message board"
Its very difficult trying to find a message board that talks about the past with strictly democratic views on it. You get a money grubby old fogy that remembers the past one way and it happened a different way its very hard to reminisce.

37. "I can see that"
I wasn't joking about wanting to discuss issues. Seniors equate for a large majority of voters. Someone just started a copycat thread about the subject so we must be a joke to some of the younger people.
