10. I didn't wash my hands once

I was cutting habaneros. I was wearing gloves at the time, but I had a headache and rubbed my eyes and scratched my nose before I realized what I was doing. My partner started hollering for help, he'd cut himself while doing some yard work, so I grabbed a clean towel and ran onto our porch. He was bleeding like a stuck pig. I got him into the house, elevated his hand, and he said, "What's wrong with your face?" My eyes and nose were quite swollen and red, I had tears and snot running down my face and hadn't even noticed because I was so worried about him. I said, "Forget about me, let's stop the bleeding first," and got him some fresh towels and a bag of ice. Then I went into the bathroom, filled the sink with cold water, stuck my face in and just BREATHED in as much water as I could.

Jesus CHRIST that sucked.

18. I couldn't go to work the next day...

...and it was a week before I wore eye makeup. I was still swollen and red when I came back to work. My boss thought it was hilarious. Everything tasted like habaneros for a few days, too.
