You know, I was rethinking my position on Whitney Houston, and then |
|
progmom played some Ella, and the truth redawned to me, and my head is no longer clouded by the musings of others trying to convince me of Whitney's godhoodness. Whew!!
Whitney fucking sucks. Plain and simple.
I'm back to normal now. Thanks, progmom!

I used to hate her. But she's downed herself to such a low point, there's no more hating to be done.
I spent one month on mess duty in the the Marines. That meant getting up at around 4 am, and leaving after 7 pm, every weekday, the weekends were similar but slightly less ridiculous. They had a radio station on, playing all the time. I imagine it woudn't be so bad if you just came in to grab some food and leave, hell, we all deal with music we can't stand now and then. But this was a station that LOVED to repeat 'the hits'. So I heard "I will always love you" by W.H. 4 times an hour. Yes, every fifteen minutes. No, I'm not exaggerating. The other song on heavy recycle mode was the Ghetto Jam.
I wanted to die. Die right there. Let someone mop me up and ship me home, tell my mom I died in the salad zone.

parade going on in the field right outside of our mess hall. It went on about 2 pm, right after lunch when we were all having a smoke.
Under an eveasement or whatever they're called. Technically, if you're under something, you didn't have to snap to attention when the national anthem was played. We were all so worn out and furious with life and 'the suck' nobody did shit when they played it.
As soon as the last note played some hard charging dumbass buzzcut staff sergeant came running up at top sprint and tried to rip us a new one. But we didn't care, he got no reaction, which made him look inside and get all weepy about how the 'corps' just wasn't what it used to be. No, pal, it's not how it 'used to be', it sucks balls because of people LIKE YOU!
That single moment almost made the entire ordeal worth it.
