I just adopted a dog. What should I name him?
He's getting a few shots right now and getting fixed. But I am wracking my brains for a name that seems right. He's a collie-shepherd mix, about two feet high with the cutest brown eyes.

So far, I've thought about:

Max

Louie IV (Tradition of naming dogs in family as Louie, but Louie 3 is still alive. Don't want to jinx him.)

Bobbie (not sure I like this one)

Jeffey

Any suggestions?

10. I want him to have a cool name. Carlos sounds good, but I don't want
people calling him "DU-DU" or "Peew", I don't want his feelings hurt.

7. I like Bobbie / Bobby
but I'm partial to the story of Greyfriars Bobby.
A collie/Shepherd mix will be a great dog for you, I had one, his name was Bruce.

Greyfriars Bobby was of course a sky terrier. But what a story. I am from Edinburgh and have visited the site often.

9. Do you know anything about his story? Are you getting him from
the animal shelter or a dog breeder?

If he has a story that lends itself to a name, that can work also.

I hit a dog with my car when he was running across a busy street. He didn't have an owner that came forward so I adopted him and had the 4 breaks in his legs fixed. I named him Crash.

12. That is a great
story! Ahhhh, good for you. We have adopted many but never one from a circumstance like that. I love it and the name, well it is perfect of course.

13. I know that he was a stray.
I adopted him from a local animal outreach program. They said he'd been running around for almost two weeks, living off of food the local residents provided.

I could call him 'Loner', or for that matter "Mooch" ;)

"Mooch Pooch! The wonder dog that chews up apholstery and forgets he's housetrained."

15. He is cute. What's the word for cute in Spanish? Is it 'bonito'?
Maybe 'guapo'

Although, considering he's part german shepherd, perhaps I should be looking in a german dictionary.

17. I found a dog name search engine. I don't know if it will help or not.
http://www.doggynames.com/single/index.html
It has naming tips. I haven't really looked around it yet.

I did a search on Crash and it gave me this:

Crash
Information about this name:
Meaning: To smash into things, to break or dash to pieces. To join a party without invitation.
Screen Details: Crash Davis from the baseball movie 'Bull Durham" (1988).
Personality Plus: Enjoys life to the fullest.

22. Who is your favorite male person from history?
I ended up picking Abbie Hoffman, but ultimately my cat's name is Abbott. If I didn't have a co-worker who's name was Jimmy I would have named him after Jimmy Page

29. I adopted a huskey mix when I was in college.
It was during a hard time for me and I found him when he had only a few days left, if you know what I mean.

I names him JustinTime - he was a loving dog with blue eyes and I got him just in time for the both of us.
