** Today's "Post A Picture of Your Pets Thread" **
Here's my kitties, Vincent & Shorty. I live in an apartment-building only neighborhood, and someone had 'abandoned' Vincent. When nobody claimed him (we put up flyers in the neighborhood) he became ours. He's about 11 years old now, we've had him for about 9 years. He's the most loving, sweet lapcat I've ever known.

Shorty was an alley kitten, from a litter born in an vacant apartment building across from ours. She's about 7 years old now. "Her royal highness" is as spoiled as they come. She demands attention from everyone she meets, engaging tactics such as 'flop, roll, pose and coyly meow' which always elicit the adulation she so deserves.

Not pictured are our fish, 2 parakeets, zebra finches and four lovebirds. Yes, quite a little zoo!

Vincent

Shorty

Lets see pics of your pets!!! :)

Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 03:21 PM by OhioBlues
A friend of mine picked them up and brought them to me out of the blue. She said here you need two cats. They were about the tiniest things I had ever seen. They are such good cats. So much like kids. I was very lucky. (I think I need to work on sizing that top picture)

29. They were born in the garden center at my Target. The mgr. opened
the store & found a momma cat & 5 babies & went inside & called the nearest vet. By the time she got back with a box, mom had fled & 2 of them had died. My daughter worked at that vet & brought them home & bottle-raised them. They had a calico sister that died at about 2 weeks. They turned 5 on May 30.

Jake lives with my friend Tim, but when Tim goes out of town it's easier to bring Jake here than to go over there & feed him. The minute Jake gets here, he & Mogli are inseparable.

Mogli is my pwecious mister baby. It's terrible that I play favorites because he's not an only cat.

Here's my other cat is Muffin. Muffin is a special case & another rescued cat. She belonged to an elderly couple and the man put her up for adoption when the wife died of cancer. I've had her for 6 years & she ws 6 or 7 when I got her. She's just a little old lady who wants to lead a quiet life & didn't like rambunctious kittens. She has health problems & had a thyroid tumor irradiated in May & has lost most of her teeth over the years.

33. I like hearing stories with happy endings (animal rescues)
What a spectacular photo of Muffin in the flowers! I sometimes call Shorty "my little muffin-kitty" as a term of endearment.

For Vincent, he gets called "Vincent-wincent" or "Vincie-poo." Maybe that's emasculating, but he's such a lovesick wuss - and so it's actually pretty fitting.

How old are they? Caesar is almost 14, Imhotep is about 8 or 9, Evie, Socrates and Plato are 4 (littermates), and Quark and Neutrino (brother and sister) are 3. Ms Marble was almost 16 when she passed.

:hi:

14. He's sooo girly...
If it's possible for a male cat to be girly, then he is! No one believes he's a boy, and he's such a scaredy cat. If he hears a loud noise or something he darts off. And he always tries to attack my laptop when the screensaver is on. :D

13. Beautiful cats!
Shorty reminds me of Cairo, but I'm sure you won't see the resemblance from this photo:

This is Watson, who just happens to love the mouse (he plays fetch with them!) visible in Vincent's photo:

This is Kaylee after returning from the vet to have some teeth pulled. She's really a sweetheart, but it's obvious she wasn't in the best mood when we snapped this pic:

Watson kind of reminds me of Vincent, too. They both love the little mice toys, there are probably hordes of them stashed under the TV armoire and any other nook or cranny.

One time my friend was over with her ferret, and she retrieved eight long-lost cat toys from under the TV armoire.

19. This my (now 2 year old ) filly, Cotton during her 1st summer & autumn.
Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 04:28 PM by CottonBear

Cotton is an Oldenburg. She used to stick her head out of the barn when she was still with her dam, Crestie. The picture in the pasture was taken after I weaned her from momma (about 6 months old). I'll have to download current pics from my cell phone camera. She is much larger now! She is my first horse! I had to wait until I was 40 to have one of my own.
Cotton is quite the princess! :) :loveya:

edit: Her sire, Coromino, is the stallion picuted in my sig line pic. :) He is fabulous and Cotton really looks and moves like him. She has her dam's star and pretty face.

28. Vincent & Shorty are beautiful! I love tabbies & fish & birds too!
We have 3 cats, 8 goldfish (pond) and 3 tropical fish. We'd get a bird but the cats would eat them. We're finding a home for my stepdaughter's cockatiel w/ a friend at work. My stepdaughter is allergic but the bird can't live here. She's going to live with a Sun Conyer (sp?) w/ my office manger. We can get her back in the future if circumstances allow (i.e. if bird outlives cats!)

:) Thanks for starting a pet thread! Pet your pretty kitties for me! :loveya:

38. Yes, a hungry cat has no snooze button.
I feed them dinner late so they will want breakfast late -- in theory it sounds good doesn't it? It's never worked out that way. They still meow at 6 am anyway & my alarm doesn't go off until 7. :boring:

37. This is Oops, currently an only child
Oops earned his name as a kitten, when he fell off the railing of our (rather high) deck. Twice. Oops.

Your kitties are beautiful. I used to have birds, too - at one point I had 23. Three cockatiels, a mated pair of lovebirds and their 5 babies, a parakeet and 14 finches. I loved it - they were all in my bedroom which was very large and it sounded like a jungle in the morning when they all woke up.

Yes, my apartment sounds like a jungle every day with all the birds.
Sometimes the pigeons come up to the windows and check 'em out...or perhaps they're looking for a way in to get the birdseed, who knows!
