Should I end my boycott of CD's? |
|
I have not bought a CD in over 2 years. I started this boycott when the RIAA announced their jihad against music downloaders. Now I buy all music from legal downloading services, Napster, iTunes and fowa while MusicNet.
Problem is I like a lot of obscure disco songs that are not available on the legal download sites. They can only be found on CD's or sites like KaZaa (which would infect my machine with more bugs than a dead carcass). Then there is the continued unavailability of the Beatles songs :grr:

1. Don't RIAA labels or the RIAA still get money from 'legal' downloads? |
|
You've wasted 2 years.
Just don't buy music nor download it.
Go out with friends, appreciate music in the bar. Leave it at that.
I haven't bought or downloaded for ages now and have no intention of continuing to. No need. No point.
If I can't eat, drink, wear, or screw it then it is not worth my money.

I need my music! So does everyone else I know. (except you :P)
Why go to some noisy bar with annoying people to listen to mediocre tunes when you can buy an album buy your favourite artist?

11. You pay RIAA and ASCAP when you go to a bar |
|
The bar pays money to play songs on the jukebox or have a live band. They have people travel around to make sure the bars are forking over the cash. It's in the price of the drinks, food, and cover.

I usually buy from CD Universe, but I would rather the money go to a DUer.

7. Honestly, I understand where you're coming from. |
|
The RIAA and their foot soldiers in the government have clearly crossed the line. However, as much as I'm for righteous boycotts, I don't see how this will make a dent.
Nevertheless, do what your conscience tells you.

Easy enough solution, you get the music you want and the RIAA doesnt see a fucking DIME from used CD sales.

13. I pay for all my music. If I can't download it legally, I buy the CD |
|
It's a matter of conscience with me, and I don't begrudge anyone who doesn't share the same opinion. I can't call myself a fan of a particular band, if I don't pay them for their art. I know it means I pay record execs as well, but buying the CD helps pay the truck drivers who brought the disc to the store, the technicians in the studio, and so on and so on.
That's just my opinion.
