For the Lounge Lizards: Nominate your picks for the 101 Worst Americans
(This is a doppleganger of a thread I made in GD; I'm repeating it here in order to reach those who avoid GD and GDP. Some days, I know exactly how you feel.)

I've started a project, and I request your assistance, DU.

I'm compiling a website to list the 101 worst Americans currently living; a sort of dynamic counter to Bernard Goldberg's "100 People Who Are Screwing Up America (And Al Franken Is #37)" -- which, in spite of the title, is actually a Who's Who of true American patriots. I'm seeking nominations of people to populate the list with.

There are the obvious choices, of course -- Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Limbaugh, Murdoch, Coulter, etc. -- but there may be some really terrible Americans out there that I, like most people, don't know of and haven't considered. I'd like to hear suggestions from both of those groups, along with, if you would, a brief word about WHY they are among the 101 worst Americans.

Obviously, the more names I have to choose from, the better and more accurate the list will be.

So, who wants to start?

3. The thing that gets me about Hannity is how he brags about his faith...
...and yet never, not once have I heard express anything remotely resembling the teaching of the founder of his faith.

17. Yep
And somehow he's managed to get a huge audience to buy into that bullshit that he passes off for intelligent conversation. The guy is anti-intellectual but he's got his audience convinced that he's smarter than they are. But the thing that get's me the most is his self-righteous, holier than thou attitude. I'd like to punch the fucker and I'm anti-violence.

When he finds out God doesn't really truck with the self-righteous hypocrites and we'll see how easy it is for that camel to pass through the eye of the needle. I have a feeling there will be a caravan of camels passing through needles before his ass enters heaven.

This is somewhat similar to an idea for an art book I had, actually. I would get my artist friends to donate drawings of various conservative jackasses and accompany the drawings with quotes and such showing why they're jackasses.

My top 10:

1. Dick Cheney. He only gets the top spot cause everyone knows he's the Sith Lord behind the apprentice.

2. George Dumbyass Bush. Duh.

3. Karl Rove. The evil architect behind the facade.

4. The entire Phelps family. These people deserve to be shot.

5. Condoleezza Rice. How does this woman sleep at night?

6. Rush Limbaugh. Why? Because he has succeeded in brainwashing millions of Americans into thinking that Republican policies have any beneficial effect on them if they are not one of the elite 5% of the country.

7. Ronald Reagan. He started all of this.

8. Britney Spears. God, do I hate this broad. Plus, I needed a non-politically motivated entry.

9. Jerry Falwell. Blaming gays for 9/11 is about as despicable as you can possibly be.

10. Rev. Sun Myung Moon. The sinister background this guy has is enough to make a grown man shiver in terror. Plus he owns the Moonie Times.

EDIT: There are so many competitors for the top spots that it'll be hard to decide. Personally, I wouldn't think that the 101st is any better than the 1st.

Talk about your all-time thug. He would have made a perfect henchman for Hitler or Stalin, too. In America, rule of law is supposed to supercede loyalty to any one man. G. Gordon Liddy, in his drooling devotion to Nixon, is the antithesis of the American ideal. Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln... all would have had as much contempt for him as I do.

I just have three nominees (well, two would share a spot) I'd throw in (if it's any consolation, I wouldn't include them in the top 10).

1. Gary David Goldberg, creator of "Family Ties" - He gave the world "Alex B. Keaton" who almost singlehandedly made young conservatism cool in the very key-moment, pivotal 80s.

2. Barry Levinson & David Mamet - These two geniuses collaborated on what turned out to be a highly overrated yet very destructive (in hindsight) motion picture, "Wag The Dog."

Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 06:44 AM by LynneSin
Goldberg's book included Michael Savage, Jimmy Swiggart and even Ken Lay. But especially with those first 2, it's not like Goldberg could hurt his career by flaming already disgraced Savage & Swiggart.

So I suppose we could toss in some 'liberals' like Alan Colmes (for being a doormat to Sean Hannity in the show that Al Franken calls Hannity and Colmes

We can also toss in Zell Miller because even though he calls himself a democrat he's just well, an idiot

74. Ronald Regean number one in my book
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 01:07 PM by Liberalynn
he started the "Me" generation, think only of yourself. Also the king of the conservative rednecks. He may be dead but his "evil selfish legacy" lingers on.

I'd also add some of his disciples.

George Bush, Jr.
George Bush, Sr.
Newt Gingrich
Trent Lott
Ann Coulter
Pat Buchanan
Bob Novak
Jeb Bush

and here's a non political choice Jessica Simpson, someone who in my book is an over rated twit. I think it shows a sad trend of the public to be fasicnated by a person who is at least IMHO, banal, and virtually talentless.

Also Tom Cruise, someone who pretends to know it all, when he IMHO knows nothing. In my book he has an outward shell that seems pretty until you realize it contains virtually nothing of substance inside of it since he obviously lacks any sense of compassion or understanding of any one who isn't a carbon copy of his egotistical self. JMHO of course.

just because of what he did. I don't know if it is "worst", but its at least horrid.
