How do you refill a refillable cigarette lighter?

It seems so simple - I grab a small screwdriver and twist the opening to what looks like the ON position, but I can't get any lighter fluid to flow into the reservoir. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My wife has four cool lighters and a klutz of a husband who can't figure any of them out.

1. The only kind..

.... I know about are the venerable Zippo lighters. But then they are simple :)

2. I had one years ago. You didn't have to do anything but jam the

nozzle of the fuel container into the bottom of the thing. But again, that was years ago.

4. they come with adapter tips and you have read the directions as to whether

hold the can bottom up or not.. i am pretty sure the lighter is bottom up and the can is bottom up..

if you leak a lot of the butane liquid on your hands it will give you frost bite.. but that takes quite a bit.. i had the wrong adapter on the can and i was drunk all the time back then...

it is really easy if you dont mess up the adapter..

7. I don't know how to refill anything but a zippo.

Since I don't have a zippo, I have about 100 disposable lighters around the house.
