Did you see the episode thursday (I think) where they were talking to people about why they liked or didn't like The Dukes of Hazzard. And they came to like 3 frat boys and all they could talk about was how great Jessica Simpson's ass was.

Friday nights were big for my family when I was a kid. I watched the Dukes at 8:00, and my parents watched Dallas right after that. I don't know what I would have watched growing up if it hadn't been for the Dukes and Star Trek.

22. It's the tail-end of the summer movie season...

Generally, studios get their "good" summer movies out by the July 4th weekend to maximize revenue. Anything released after that, and especially from August on, is something they consider substandard. They can generally build up a good opening weekend through advertising (most casual moviegoers will take in "something new," so a new release will almost always top the box office), but the movie usually won't generate the word-of-mouth needed to keep attendance up thereafter. I'd expect Dukes to not top the charts for long.

23. Y'know, the potential is there for the Dukes being a great film.

A buddy and I had a long conversation today about how kickass a Dukes of Hazzard movie would be if it were directed by someone like Fellini or Godard. I'd pay $20 to see something like that.

Oliver Stone's Dukes of Hazzard would be pretty cool too.
