Some needs to smack these jerks with a 2 x 4 and yell "Get a life!" :eyes:

'Left Behind' creator looks ahead

By BILL HUTCHENS, TACOMA NEWS TRIBUNE

(SH) - Troy Lyndon remembers doing one interview for last year's Christian Game Developers Conference.
"I was interviewed by the '700 Club,' and I think that was it," Lyndon said last week in a phone interview from the 2005 conference in Portland, Ore.

This year, things are different for the CEO of Left Behind Games.

With all the hoopla over sex and violence in games in recent weeks and months, parents - and the media - are looking for redeeming content in videogames. Perhaps a game series based on the popular "Left Behind" Christian books is a good place to start.

"I think the success of the 'Passion' (film) has combined with people honestly being tired of videogames representing a more-satanic-than-thou image," said Lyndon, who has done several interviews in recent weeks.

Like many videogames, the first "Left Behind" title will have an apocalyptic warfare theme. The game will be based on the books and will follow the adventures of those who are left behind to face a frightening period known as the Tribulation after the mass disappearance, or "rapture," of the church.

Video game Todd and Rod play on The Simpsons

Where you turn cavemen looking "heavens" into white suited "born agains".

Bart: I got one!
Todd: You only wounded him. He's a Unitarian.

Bart playing a Christian video game with Tod and Rod.

-ZAP-
"I got him! He's converted!"
"No, you just winged him. Now he's a Unitarian!"

12. As an addicted video gamer...
I see the basic premise as something that could work just fine.

I'd put it this way: "In a world in which all those free of sin have departed, damaged souls seek survival and salvation."

It's something I think a skilled game developer could make a good game out of. Far worse ideas have been made into fun games. (You're an italian plumber battling a giant monkey to save a princess. WTF?)

However, even the best premises can be wasted by a bad developer.

Because this is like those Pentagon video games, propaganda aimed at video gamers.

In this case, propaganda for the Rapture bullshit.

18. I'm just looking at its excuse to blow stuff up.
Frankly, that's all the premise for most video games is. I see no reason why fundies can't make a game based on their ideals, just as there's no reason a game can't be made on the idea of, oh, saving the environment, developing alternative energy, funding social programs, winning political elections, etc...

The challenge isn't the idea, it's making the idea fun to play, when looked at from a gamers perspective.

23. So they say they are against violence, and want more bible inspired stuff?
So they make up a game based on a philosophy and theology that is SOUNDLY not Biblical - and that's the truth, this whole "rapture" and "tribulation" stuff is completely FARCICAL and not to be found in Scripture AT ALL, except to throw a few verses together piecemeal and out of context.

So, first, they aren't Biblical at all.

And secondly, their false vision that they offer is CHOCK FUCKING FULL OF VIOLENCE. Violence of the most horrible kind, the kind of violence that I'm sure tehy all laugh at it because it's being done to the "idiots who are left behind".

Yeah, really fuckin' Christian.

These people suck. They are the worst kind of religious hucksters; entirely the kind of religious hucksters that Jesus was railing agaoinst.

Tim Lehaye is no different than Jim Jones, in terms of wrongful abuse of religion.

24. So Christian violence isn't violence?
They always want it both ways - condemn violence then promote your own brand of violence. More dominionist crap.

(No offence to the liberal Christians here, only to those assholes perverting Jesus' message.)

Khash.
