Now is the summer of my discontent
Anyone else feeling a vague yet overwhelming sense of unsettledness? Maybe it's letdown from the bar exam and being out of school; I'm now a woman of leisure and don't know what to do with myself. Nothing in the universe seems at all as it should be. I have no energy and no interest in doing anything. Maybe I should up my Zoloft to 1000 mg/day!

1. It's almost definitely post-school letdown.
People vastly underestimate how hard the adjustment to post-college life can be. It's a very different world.

But yes, I feel pretty unsettled myself these days. Way too much uncertainty and frustration for me.

2. But I'm 42!
I worked for years before going back to school; I can only imagine how my 25-year-old classmates must be feeling.

How were your job interviews, BTW?

3. Well, I didn't get the job.
Fuckers just sent a letter after 2 interviews instead of calling me to tell me too. And so the hunt continues evermore...

But yeah, I think it's just a huge adjustment, regardless of age. Almost everyone I know has gone through it to some extent. It also might be the finality of it all too, knowing that this is probably it for your education.

4. Sorry to hear that
But I'm one of those Pollyannas who believes everything happens for a reason and that something even better will come along.

Funny - I was thinking in the car last night, "Should I apply to medical school now??"
