Poll question: Favorite type of X-Files episode
At the moment a monster of the week episode is on; I have a shrewd feeling that this is going to be the winner

2. I'm gonna have to go with the goofy ones...
with the caviat that they wouldn't have worked without all credibility built by the excellent "straight" episodes, the best of which were mostly the monster of the week variety...

7. I saw a description of an X-Files in a TV guide as, "Scully and Muldar inv
estigate strange occurances in a small town"

Yeah that was it.
That's like the description of 70% of all the episodes.

9. LEAST favorite --
the episode with Giovanni Ribisi. The guy must have watched too many Mel Gibson movies & decided that acting consists of staring determinedly while bellowing.

His performance annoyed the hell out of me even BEFORE I heard he was a scientologist

10. I enjoyed any of the ones that didn't deal with the
unraveling the alien conspiracy, those tended to get pretty boring.

15. Ah shit you modified the poll. Goofy for me please. ANYTHING but
the 'conspiracy unravelling'.

Examples of my faves: Circus freaks episode with Jim Rose troupe, and the Insurance Guy who can tell the way you're gonna die, with Peter Boyle.

Standalone stories were the best.

16. Any of the wierd shit in small town America ones
the cannibals at the chicken factory, the episode with the backwoods freaks and Sheriff Andy Taylor, the (scary TV type, not IRL type) witches running a school, that kid who directs lightening, etc.

I also really liked the season one and two conspiracy episodes, which were awesome. After the show got really popular the conspiracy episodes weren't so good. :(

22. Definitely the Goofy ones....
If they include Jose Chung, the Vampire Trailer Park & the Cockroaches. How about the Shapeshifter with a Tail who almost seduces Scully?

But I do have a soft spot for the Lone Gunmen.
