Most taseful nude scene in a movie
Most nude scenes are just there, but there are a few that I feel are in good taste. Mary Elizebeth Mastrontonio in the "Abyss" Her shirt is torn off while Ed Harris gives her cpr. It was NOT menat to be erotic or sensual. IMO, it made the scene real.ANother one was Kathy Bates in "At Play in the FIeld of the Lords"She's covered in mud running around naked. It shows that she has had some kind of breakdown & I believed it. Her being naked made the scene that much more powerful.

Is there any nude scene that you feel has been in good taste & actually helped you believe a charachter in a movie?

1. There are good nude scenes
and there are bad nude scenes.

the best nude scene I would say is at the ending of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

15. Phil Ochs
Legendary 60s/early 70s folksinger/songwriter Phil Ochs. I discovered him while searching for some meaningful music to listen to; I was frustrated and angry by the administration's policies. Probably two-thirds of Phil's songs are political in nature, and he could really turn out great lyrics and memorable tunes. Almost all of his political songs are every bit as relevant today as the day he wrote them. Some of his non-political stuff is also first-rate.

There have been two biographies of Phil published. Also, rumor has it that Sean Penn has expressed interest bordering on an intention to film a version of his life. There are pronounced tragic elements. Phil had
major problems including manic depression and alcoholism; later in his life he was mugged and in the course of being assaulted his vocal cords were ruptured, so he couldn't hit high notes anymore. His albums sold fewer and fewer copies, even though his last studio album was a solid country-rock effort. In 1976, he took his own life. If he were around today, he would be THE foremost protest singer alive, and he would be writing brilliant songs skewering Governor Bush and his cronies.

6. I think what he means is
it is not gratuitous and come on, the vast majority of nudity in films is VERY gratuitous.

21. You're right. All nudity in films (with the exception of porn)...
is gratuitous. Porn is the exception for the obvious reason.

9. No
I do not like the kind of nudity where it is just plastered on to make it shallow.

I hope you understand what I mean by that.

I don't remember that one..

I remember the second renaissance, but I seem to remember what a woman get torn apart by an angry mob reveling that she was a robot.

Or was that what you meant and I'm just a jackass? :o

5. Do you mean tasteful or non erotic?
There are lots of non erotic nude scenes which bring depth and artistry to a performance. Or just realism. Like even Ahnold in Terminator, or Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes. Hmmm, two right wing assholes, need a better example.

How about - oh dear, I was going to say Mel Gibson in Bravehart.

Help - need left wing actor nude but not sexy - Maybe it's impossible, maybe all left wingers are sexy.

10. I guess what I mean is
a nude scene thats not meant to be erotic. Now, I can mention many favorite nude scenes that are pointless & erotic.I just felt a tasteful nude scene was more difficult to name off the top of my head. This subject came up last night w/some friends & we all had to really think about it.

Look at it this way, if you or a loved one(think a daughter, son or parent)did a nude scene, you'd want it to be some what tasteful I would think (or maybe not)Its kind of difficult for me to think of.I'm sure there are mant, just none come to mind.Maybe Chris ATkins & Brooke Shileds in "The Blue Lagoon"(I thought it was a very innocent scene)

11. The one I remember is Papillon
Steve McQueen escapes from the prison and winds up exhausted on a beach. He is greated by the native people there and there are several young topless native women there. He does take a liking to one of the native women but the scenes seem quite innocent, at least enough to show on non premium channel TV.

17. Good Taste is relative....
Naked ladies are everywhere, for "tasteful" reasons or not.

I'd vote for "Women In Love" with Oliver Reed & Alan Bates. They strip for a wrestling scene, in a firelit study.

Hey, it's based on a D H Lawrence book--so, it must be tasteful. Or, if you can't be tasteful, be tasty!

24. Funny...
...I thought the Abyss scene was totally gratuitous. It really seemed to me that they put that "oh, it won't work unless we take her clothes off" bit merely because it was the only way they could work a boob shot into that film.
