I'm enraged (not copycatting)
A friend of my parents' dropped by to visit. Apparently her son is coming to visit.

"He's living in California, he hates all those fags and liberals he has to put up with there! I know he'll want to meet you."

I said nothing.

I don't know who I'm angrier at. Her for assuming I'm not a fag or a liberal (when I'm both) or me for allowing myself to be insulted in my own home and not saying something..

Khash, some really pissed off guy.

2. Its hard at first...
But eventually you learn to be blunt with such people no matter what the consequences.

Keep working at it.

3. I'm sorry.
I would have been taken aback also, and would probably have left so many things unsaid.

I'm sorry you were insulted in your own home.

4. Geesh
There was someone like that who I worked with who was from Texas- I'm in Madison WI. A lot of people come here to work a contract and stay because its such a cool, liberal place. He cut his contract short because he didn't want his children growing up in a community that was so accepting of homosexuals.

Good riddance. I'm proud to live in a community that makes all kinds of bigots so uncomfortable!

5. People - they're the worst!
It must have been hard to bite your tongue. Some people are just too dumb to live (to quote my Family Law professor).

6. Oh my dear Khash....
I feel for you... and in your OWN home, yet...

Of course you're angry..who wouldn't be? She caught you off guard, and your inherent good manners probably had something to do with your non-response...

I have been there, my dear, and it never seems to get any easier...

And what good would it have done to unload on her? If indeed you had done that...

You probably would have pissed her off no end...and no good would have come from it...

And I suspect that any milder statement would just have bounced right off her (no doubt) iron-clad hide...

I hope you will feel better very soon... :loveya: :*
