2. I miss fall leaves
What a beautiful sight. Here in AZ we have none.

I hope you don't have any wind! Do you compost? Does the city pick them up for a city composting program? Or do they get dumped into a landfill?

11. Same here
I'm here in Nevada, and at this point, I would pay other people to come to their house and rake their leaves.

Currently in Summerlin just off Hillpointe Ave. Where does your sister live?

17. She's in Summerlin also
on Jensen St, by the lakes. That's what she says, I don't think I've ever seen a lake in Vegas.

3. Do you
have to rake your leaves? I always wait until all of the leaves are off the trees in my yard and then run the lawn mower over them. Makes a great mulch for the grass during the winter.

9. I do the same thing...
mow over them after they have fallen. But my neighbors all rake theirs. My lawn is beautiful in the spring :-)

5. Tell you what
Let's trade places. You can live in my tiny apartment and not have to rake leaves; I'll take your house and rake the leaves with a song in my heart.

I've got 5 100 year+ oak trees in my back yard I have to tackle this weekend. Populistmom is going to need a masseuse when I finish!

7. Oh, we ain't laughing at the Nownow ranch.
We've got nine deciduous trees on a quarter-acre city lot. Five of them are what they call 'swamp maples' here in Ohio, and have lost all their leaves already. The oak out back doesn't drop its leaves in the fall, but the other three (a sugar maple, a crabapple and a golden raintree) do. Unfortunately, I have problems with my shoulders, so I can only help so much -- raking leaves bears grumbling rights around here on a level usually reserved for having the transmission go on the car at rush hour in a hailstorm. Mr. Nownow is finally beginning to see some wisdom in my plan to have two or three of the swamp maples removed next spring. We both love trees, but our house looks like it's nestled in Sherwood Forest at this point, and Robin Hood ain't the one who picks up the rake.

10. I don't find the raking that bad,
it's getting the suckers into the blue plastic bags. The bag always collapses and the leaves go on the ground. Again.

13. I sure don't miss raking leaves.
Back in NJ, it was every weekend for 8-11 weeks. I had over 30 trees just in the side yard plus a few monsters scattered around the property.

Moved to Vegas in June and I don't miss it a bit (the few leaves that fall in the pool are taken care of by the pool guy).

I feel for you. Do you have gutter guards?

15. Need some oak seedlings?
See, a lot of our yard is mulch beds.
The squirrels bury acorns in the mulch beds.
The acorns like the mulch beds, A LOT.
Now we have THOUSANDS OF OAK TREE SEEDLINGS.
Free shipping.
:grr:

19. I generally just let nature take its course
The wind disposes of the leaves on the lawn, except for a few which blow into the corners. The squirrels take care of the nuts. As long as we clear off our front steps and sidewalk and the stuff that gets wedged into the ivy, we don't seem to have to worry about the rest.

It's worked so far.
